Hello, I'd just like to offer an FYI that there are many spellings of the McCORKLE name, going back a few centuries. My great-grandmother's maiden name was Mary CORKILL. Her father was Evan CORKILL b.1827 the Isle of Man. That name is very popular on the Isle of Man, and later in England. But, my 5 years of research found out several things. The CORKILL name sometimes shows up as CORKHILL, CORNHILL, COCKILL, etc. And, the original name in 1600's ? was McCORQUODALE. http://genealogy.about.com/library/surnames/m/bl_name-MCCORQUODALE.htm Betty (near Lowell, MA) List Administrator for: CAN-USA-MIGRATION LAURENTIDES (P.Q.) GAVIN NHROCKIN P.S. My CORKILL great-grandmother was one of 5 siblings who were born and raised in Liverpool, England, but who were "sent to Canada" as "child migrants" in the 1870's. In Canada the over 100,000 are referred to as "British Home Children."
