I also accessed the NJ Star Ledger and Bergen Evening Record - again, nothing found. Keep in mind that families must pay the papers to publish an obituary, so not every decedent has one. Additionally, there is no online resource that has ALL US newspapers. Before I would enrich the State of NJ by $25 for a death certificate, I would call an Emerson town official (town clerk, tax assessor, postmaster, etc.). If Charles was a long time resident there, someone should know him. However, it's up to you, and I wish you the best of luck!
