I appreciate it. My great grandfather Uipko Stonehouse was born in 1893 in Ridgewood. I was told by my father Alvin Stonehouse that he was orphaned at the age of 12 and had no family. After doing some searching I find him listed on the 1895 census with a sister Nancy and three other Stonehouse's named(not sure if these names are correct)Gelto(maybe father)Nandala(maybe mother)Lambert(possible grandfather).Uipko's name is of course misspelled and begins with a "Y" but is always misspelled on census records. I find on the 1900 census that Lambert Stonehouse(they have Lemner)is living as a boarder in the Smith house in Ridgewood. It states he is 64 yrs old born in 1835 and a native of Holland and came here in 1880. Above his name is a 7yr old boarder listed as "Coe" and a 9 yr old boarder listed as Nancy. Somewhere between the 1895 census and the 1900 census, the other two Stonehouses' are gone.(deceased??not sure) Lambert also shows up in 1905 but not on th! e 1910 census,so I assume he died between 1906-1909. In 1910, Nancy is 18 and living with the Grahams in Ridgewood as a servant. No way to track her down once she marries....or so I thought. I believe Nancy Stonehouse became Nancy Smith of Ridgewood and Glen Rock, wife of Philip Smith. They had a son named (Gelto)(in 1920 its spelled with a G and 1930 with a J). Uipko also uses that name for his son Elmer Jelto Stonehouse who is my grandfather. I assume that the name of their father on the 1895 census must be Gelto with a G, and they both used that name for their own kids but thought it was spelled with a J. They both ended up marrying Smith's(Uipko married Lydia Smith and Nancy married Philip Smith)Its funny that I'm learning more about Uipko's grandfather, parents, and sister then he ever knew. He had to know he had a sister I assume, though he never mentioned her to anyone to my knowledge. If anyone has any more info i would appreciate it. I just want to prove that these ! people existed..
