Hi all My name is Mike John from Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales in the U.K. I have been researching family history for 20 years and have just discovered that several members of my mothers family emigrated to East Rutherford New Jersey from Somerset England between 1895 - 1909, the address given on several Ellis Island records looks like Mozart or Mizert street. The families are: John & Rose Dabinett born circa 1867 & 1871 son & daughter Ernest & Jesse George & ????? Long born 1867 Frank & Annie White born circa 1872 & 1875 daughters Annie & Elsie I would like to trace any descendants of any of these families, and would also like to know the actual street name, and what sort place East Rutherford was at the turn of the century when the families above arrived. Mike
In addition to Dianne's information you could also try this website http://www.whitepages.com/ Just put in Dabinett and NJ and you'll find some in NJ. The closest one to Rutherford would be the one in Hackensack but the rest aren't really that far. I would try the ones in Toms River as many from northern NJ retire down there. Rutherford is a nice town, it has some amazing Victorian style homes and at one time was probably a great town. If you narrow it down to the address/street I'll be happy to take a picture for you over the holidays as it is about 10-15 miles south of me. Take care, Liz On Sun, Dec 21, 2008 at 10:44 PM, mike john <mdjohn@ntlworld.com> wrote: > Hi all > > My name is Mike John from Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales in the U.K. > > I have been researching family history for 20 years and have just > discovered that several members of my mothers family emigrated to East > Rutherford New Jersey from Somerset England between 1895 - 1909, the address > given on several Ellis Island records looks like Mozart or Mizert street. > > The families are: > > John & Rose Dabinett born circa 1867 & 1871 son & daughter Ernest & Jesse > George & ?????
