    3. Mike, The 1910 Federal Census at East Rutherford indicates that George and Sarah Long were married for nine years. Thus, they would have wed about 1901. Also enumerated in the household is Margaret Allen, age 26 and single. Her relationship to the head of household (George) appears as "sister-in-law". Most likely, Sarah's maiden name was "Allen". The 1930 Federal Census shows William A. Long at Wood-Ridge, Bergen County, with wife, Isabelle. A check of the SSDI reflects a William A. Long born 30 October 1901 and died June 1982. This couple had at least one son and two daughters. William and Isabelle Long are interred in Hackensack Cemetery (Section 20, Plot 158). I plan to visit the NJ State Archives at Trenton next week. If you like, I can get the birth certificate of William A. Long and the marriage record of George and Sarah Long. Please let me know in advance if you need these documents. Happy Holidays! Beverly G. Kirby-McDonough. ----- Original Message ----- From: "mike john" <mdjohn@ntlworld.com> To: <monfh@yahoogroups.com> Cc: <njbergen@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, December 22, 2008 1:57 PM Subject: [NJBERGEN] Marriage > Does anyone know if it is possible to find any reference to a marriage > that possibly took place in New Jersey. > > I suspect that George Samuel Long married Sarah J ?????? before their son > William A Long was born abt 1902 New Jersey, Sarah J was born somewhere in > Wales abt 1876. > > The family appear on the 1910 & 1920 census living in East Rutherford, It > says George arrived in the U.S in 1898 & Sarah J in 1896 that is why I > suspect they married in America. 3. Mike, The research room at the New Jersey State Archives is self-service. Most of the vital records there are indexed and available on microfilm / microfiche. Copies are 50 cents each... on the honor system. Despite the low cost, I've observed some researchers taking screenshots with their digital cameras! More contemporary vital records are stored at the New Jersey Department of Health, also in Trenton. I'll probably visit the archives early next week. I'll scan the birth and marriage records for you, and send them via email. We probably have a better chance of locating George Long and Sarah ??? in the 1900 Federal Census based on the data in the marriage certificate. How are you related to the Long's? I'll keep you posted. Regards, Beverly G.
