Ref Bergen county deed indexes in Hackensack. I am not sure that I understood clearly what the problem is here, but may I point out that there ARE index books available from, I believe, 1734 forward. They are at the south end of the search-vault area -- a series of "Grantor" and "Grantee" books, indexed by names.
