My grandfather was William Joseph Kennedy and his brother was a James J. who married Margaret Mary Murphy. They were the children of John Joseph Kennedy and Johanna Tierney Kennedy (we think from Tipperary Ireland) who came to American in the 1860s to Peoria IL. I don't know how much you have found out since your post but the John & Johanna's children were Michael, Francis Thomas, James J., John, William, Jerry, Margaret, and Mary. They migrated from Illinois to NJ - Bergen County around 1900. Most kids b. in Peoria, IL, then Francis and James were b. Champaign, IL and around 1884 apx. they moved to Chicago. John Joseph Kennedy (my g-grandfather and your gggg-grandfather) was a blacksmith and some of the sons did that at first, too. They sailed here from Liverpool with Michael the oldest son born in England (while they were waiting or saving for boat?) All the other children were b. in IL. I show on my chart that James children were John Joseph m. an El! len Carboy, James Joseph m. Elsie Dowd, Francis Paul m. Mina Chisholm and Elizabeth m. Karl Maier.
