Born some time after 1761, died 1847. He's in the 1830 census in the Old English Neighborhood, Bergen County NJ (which is also where he died). His daughter Mary Day, b. 1792, married John L. Engle 1808, died 1858 - all in the Old English Neighborhood. Maybe there's a connection? Maybe someone out there can answer it for both of us. Thank you - Gary Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I cannot answer your queries directly, That said, I too am interested in the DAY family as some of them married into my line up in Aroostook Co. Maine in the 1850-65 range. They also show up in Carleton Co. New Brunswick ca 1800. In checking my research, I find the following: First Generation * * * 1. James LYDECKER <C>. Born in 1769. James died ? . On 25 Sep 1790 when James was 21, he married Maria DAY. Born ca 1769. Maria died ? . They had the following children: 2 i. Lydia 3 ii. Garret J (1797-1880) Second Generation * * * Family of James LYDECKER <C> (1) & Maria DAY 2. Lydia LYDECKER (James1). 3. Garret J LYDECKER (James1). Born in 1797. Resided in New Jersey, Bergen County, English Neighborhood. Garret J died in 1880; he was 83. Garret J married Sarah RYER. Born ca 1797. Sarah died ? . They had the following children: i. James ii. John R iii. Cornelius (1827-?) Your query lends further evidence of this DAY-LYDECKER link. I can trace the LYDECKER family from Bergen Co. to New Brunswick to Northern Maine. Their story is one of significant loss when they took flight in 1783 from NYC to St. John, NB. My Samuel Bensen LYDECKER (sr) left behind extensive land and mercantile holdings (´worth 500,000 Pounds in 1783) only to lose it all after the war. I am willing to contribute my limited research into the DAY family in exchange for similar data confirming NJ connections.
