My parents moved the family to Canada in 1947. Our backround is almost all from the State of New Jersey and Germany. My Great Grandfather was born in Hamburg in 1850 his wife born in Pomerania in 1856. I am trying to trace their gravesite which I think is Panama Canal Zone. He died in 1910 and she died in 1926. Any help would be beneficial Thanks Don Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. The wives of these two and their children line up okay. The boys migrated to Iowa before 1856 when my ggrandmother was born. The names Elias and Elisha are very common and I have reason to suspect they were named after their grandfather(s). Can anyone give me any futher information here. I am willing to share. Author: famhistresearcher Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newjersey.counties.bergen/3261.1.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: If I wanted to be cynical as to why Ancestry didn't make much of a fuss over it, I would say it is because its about 7 to 8 months late! Ancestry sent out "Collection Update" e-mails on April 12, 2007 stating that the "1885 NJ State Census" was "Coming Soon!". The 1885 NJ State Census has STILL not been posted! Then on May 24, 2007, Ancestry sent out "Collection Update" e-mails stating that the "NJ State Census" (no mention of specific years) was "Coming Soon!" They even posted it in the "Coming Soon" section on their website for a few days back in late June/early July. I have been watching out for it since at least April. (I think they may have even included it in a March e-mail as "Coming Soon" but I cannot find a copy of that e-mail). Needless to say, I am more than a little disappointed with Ancestry's performance on this and I certainly hope they intend to follow through and post the other available NJ State censuses soon. If I had signed up for an annual members! hip based on their misleading advertisements, my annual subscription would almost be over.
