    1. [NJBERGEN] How to obtain 1997 Death Cert if not directly related?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: lawful11 Surnames: Budd Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newjersey.counties.bergen/3271/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am trying to locate living cousins and believe the only way to do so may be by obtaining their father's death certificate and hope they are the source listed (we don't know their names anymore). Does anybody know if it is possible to obtain this if our only connection to the deceased is a common great-grandparent? This person died in 1997 in Emerson, Bergen County, NJ. Thanks in advance. Author: ebenordms Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newjersey.counties.bergen/3270/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for informtion on George Enders and katherine Duffy. George moved to the Bergen area from the Bronx sometime in the 1930's with his neice, Katherine Duffy daughter of his sister Catherine and Michael Duffy. I found George from draft records, so I cannot be sure when he moved there. I suspect Katherine's mother and father died during the 1930's probably before George moved to New Jersey. George had lived with his sister and her husband for many years. I would particularly like to locate Katherine as she would be the last of that line and would like to know if she ever married and had children. 1. [NJBERGEN] Nettie NAGEL, maiden name STUHR, Rutherford and Ho Ho Kus
    2. Thomas Family
    3. Hi all, I'm trying to find anything about Nettie NAGEL who, according to the Social Security Death Index, was born on 3 September 1894 and died March 1981 at Ho Ho Kus, Bergen, NJ. I think Nettie's family name was STUHR, and that she was married to Herman NAGEL. They are both with Nettie's parents, Edward and Dora STUHR, in the 1930 census, in Rutherford, Bergen. In earlier censuses with her parents, Nettie's given name is Johnetta or Jonette. Herman NAGEL (born c 1892) was from England according to the 1910, 1920 and 1930 censuses (and draft registration in 1917), but I think he was actually born in Germany and moved to England at a very young age. I am almost sure he was the brother of my grandfather Maxwell James NAGEL. Their parents were Frederick NAGEL and Emma JOHANSEN (of Sweden). Does anyone have any local directories or anything that might help me to ascertain where Nettie and Herman lived after 1930? I cannot find a SSDI entry for him, nor any likely burial information. Any likely SSDI entries have been followed up through the census records and elminated. I have searched the New York Times for Stuhr and Nagel obituaries, but the only one that seems to be connected is for Edward STUHR's mother Fredericka (c1846-1908), Nettie's grandmother. I posted queries about this over three years ago, and a kind fellow lister gave me some addresses of STUHRs in New Jersey. I wrote letters to all of them but received no replies at all. I don't want to intrude on anyone's privacy but my 87 year old aunt, who is physically unwell but has marvellous mental agility and curiosity, would love to solve the family mystery and I said I'd try to help. She is Max's daughter, so Herman was her uncle. She remembers Max's other siblings but there has always been such mystery surrounding Herman because he left for (Canada or) America before Dora was born. Happy holidays and a peaceful, healthy 2008 to all. Loretta Melbourne, Australia
