    3. The maps of Harrington and of Norwood taken from the 1876 Walker Atlas are now available on my Dutch Door Genealogy website. This is real Haring territory from the time of the Tappan Patent. They appear under the section Early Maps, which itself is under Other, Historical. Hope they are helpful to some searchers! Regina Haring http://www.dutchdoorgenealogy.com

    3. To Dr. Kaufman, Sorry for the confusion. My original point was that the LDS Family History Center Library catalogue says that their microfilmed index is missing. Since I don't live near New Jersey I had hoped to view the deed index via microfilm. 2. Ref Bergen county deed indexes in Hackensack. I am not sure that I understood clearly what the problem is here, but may I point out that there ARE index books available from, I believe, 1734 forward. They are at the south end of the search-vault area -- a series of "Grantor" and "Grantee" books, indexed by names. 2. Wow, isn't it a shame that no one has taken on indexing those deeds? That would sure make it easier for folks to have an index to that kind of information. 3. Bergen County deed indexes were not filmed (at least as far as I know.) They are available at the county level in Hackensack. I was given to understand that they weren't filmed when the deeds were because the index books were too large for their equipment. At some point the county will probably be digitizing both the deeds and the indexes - but I'm pretty sure they haven't started on the old records yet. The deeds in the libers are roughly chronological - that is, they are filed in the order that they were received. A deed could have been signed in August - but if it wasn't brought in and filed until later in the year - it will be in the book for when it was brought in. There is no attempt to organize the recorded deeds by name, by town, or by date. Each deed book is usually about 500 pages or so and each deed is usually about two pages long. I know that isn't very encouraging but... Regards, Joan Joan M. It is from the Reliable Council number 169. It is in a frame and it is worn but I'd like to try to get it back to someone who may be related just for the sentimental value. I've searched various different sites and even reached out to the JOUAMO - but no one has gotten back to me. It is signed by Edwin T. 1. [NJBERGEN] GSNJ members - Can you help?
    2. Joan M Lowry
    3. Hi All! Are you going to the FGS Conference in Philadelphia PA from 9/3/08 through 9/6/08? GSNJ is having an exhibit booth at the conference, but we need your help! If you are a GSNJ member and will be at the conference, would you consider assisting us with the booth for an hour or two during the conference? It's a great chance to meet other GSNJ members, spend some time with GSNJ trustees, and help promote our society! If you are able to spare some time to help with the booth - please contact <mailto:membership@gsnj.org>. We are especially in need of help for Thursday and Saturday afternoons, but other times are also available. Let us know when you think you could help and we'll schedule you in. If you aren't attending the conference - but will be in the Philadelphia area and want to help - you can volunteer at the booth (and then have a chance to shop the other exhibitors while you're there!) Just let us know when you could help out. We'd love to have you! The GSNJ booth will be closed on Friday from noon to 2pm, during the GSNJ sponsored luncheon. We encourage you to join us for the luncheon and hear Drew Smith, one half of the podcasting duo, The Genealogy Guys. It should be a good lunch and good entertainment! We hope to see you all in Philadelphia - stop by the booth (#107) and say hello! Regards, Joan Joan M. Lowry mailto:jmlowry@earthlink.net
