Suzi: What is Grannie's name? Denise -----Original Message----- Message: 1 Date: Tue, 9 Dec 2008 15:03:25 -0500 From: "Suzi Motley" <suzi.motley@countrycluboflandfall.com> Subject: [NJBERGEN] Adolphus Ney WW1 spy To: "NJBERGEN" <NJBERGEN@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <NFEFKECDEMBHMDADCCKICEINCLAA.suzi.motley@countrycluboflandfall.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" I am searching for info on my grandfather ADOLPHUS(ADOLPH) HENRY NEY. I have recently found a US patent 1912-1916 for him living in Hasbrouck Heights. Adolph was a WW1 German alien agent and was imprisoned in Ft. Oglethorpe, GA from 1918-1919. He was a real piece of work. I have found 6 wives and no divorces in less that 19 years And this is BEFORE he married my Grannie! He was also suspected of blowing up a chemical plant during WW1. He was a chemical & dye expert working in plants that made these materials for the military. I am trying to trace when he married my grannie. It had to be after March 1928 and before April 1930. Oh did I mention grannie was married 5 times??? I also do not know when she died or when he died or where buried. Grannie remarried #5 in 1933 & was listed as a widow. So far I have only been able to reach the year 1920. Nothing afterwards. I am trying to put together a time frame on where he was each year and hope to find when he met grannie. He was born in Nuremberg, Germany in 1872 to noble parents. He had a PHD in chemistry, physics, engineering, was a teacher and inventor. Quite brilliant. I rec?d his prison papers and there was a pix of him. I never knew what he looked like. I also have an 80 pages of documentation fro the FBI files on his alien status. Very interesting reading. Also found over 100 pages in the Nat'l Archives on his immigration status on whether to deport him. Does anyone have access to maybe city directories or any other research material that might help me?? I live in NC so it is very hard for me to research. I would be happy to compensate any costs. It is just my dream that I find more info on him and find where my grannie is buried before I die!!!!!! Talk about a brick wall - it is harder to penetrate than the Berlin Wall ever was!!!! Thanks Suzi Motley Wilmington, NC

I am not researching this family but new a few DeGroats in the Hillburn, Sloatsburg and Suffern area back in the 50s-60s. You might want to contact the library there to see if they have any information. Have a good one and good luck...for now and till then. ----- Original Message ----- From: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com> To: <NJBERGEN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, December 11, 2008 07:57 Subject: Re: [NJBERGEN] de Groat search > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Author: mlbutler1 > Surnames: De Groat - Coe > Classification: queries > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newjersey.counties.bergen/3292.1.2.1/mb.ashx > > Message Board Post: > > I don't know much about the DeGroat family - I will have to look further > into your information!
