Author: cookie1950_1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newjersey.counties.bergen/1006.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Tom if you still log on here, I am new to the site and on my own quest for Cookes. I am a Cooke descendant whose ancestors in the mid to late 19th century were very numerous in and around Englewood NJ. It sounds like your relative married into the Cooke family, but there was Hannah in our family around the late 1800s. There is a Catholic Cemetery in Englewood with dozens of Cooke headstones. Dozens of families cam e to build the railroads and then settled in Englewood. Fr. Harrington is also married into the Cookes and he was in the parish up the road in Tenafly, NJ. you will find the same frustration as I with the commoness of our Cooke names, a little easier than Smith.! Good luck. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. These Hollanders came mostly from Zuid-Holland, Friesland, Groningen, and Gelderland provinces to Paterson, Lodi, Passaic, and Midland Park, NJ after the Civil War and before WWI. Another wave of Frisians went to Sussex around WWII. Jim Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My email is malefyt@juno.com I have a partial listing of members of the UTY but no history of how it was stated nor where they met. Thanks for the location info. From the list of members, it seems it was mostly a Frisian organization? Was Clark a Dutch surname at one time? Jim Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
