    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: richardeberle_1 Surnames: Bildstein Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newjersey.counties.bergen/3246.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Josef, born 1888 and his elder brother Martin (1883) immigrated to the US in oct. 1911 to work in the embroidery-industry. The US tariff policy against Austrian embroidery products led to high unemployment in Wolfurt and forced many young man to leave Austria and start to work in the embroideries on the NJ-side of the Hudson river. They grew up in Hofsteigstraße 15, Wolfurt where they left back here mother and fife brothers and sisters. Their father had died 1907. Another brother - Eduard - was for some time in NJ too but came back to Austria and lived in Lochau/Austria. I could not find any file that helped me finding when he emigrated and reimmigrated. Another brother died in WW1. My questions about Josef and Martin: Did they mary in the US? When did they die? Do they have descendants?
