    1. [NJ-OLD-NEWSPAPERS] Passaic area lookup for Dantico
    2. gl dandy
    3. Hello! Many years ago, Ihit a huge brick wall in my research, and I still can't break through. I'm trying to find information on Suzy Dantico who lived in Passaic in 1900 and Wallington in 1910. After her first husband died, she remarried around May 1897. She and her husband Eddie had 3 sons together: Michael [b. 17 Oct 1900], James [b. 06 Mar 1905], and Edward [b. c. 1903]. Suzy and Eddie appear to have died between May 1910 and June 1918. I'm out of state, so unfortunately, I can't look this info up myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Georgianna

    1. [NJ-OLD-NEWSPAPERS] Search for Sophronia and Helen Matthews
    2. Ted Page
    3. Hi List, The 1930 Lakewood NJ census shows Sophronia (Clayton) and Harry Matthews with a daughter, Helen A. Matthews. After that they sort of disappear. Sophronia and Harry were pretty young in 1930, Sophronia born 1896 was 34 and Harry born 1901 was 29. So they surely could have had more children wherever they ended up. They both had jobs there in Lakewood, according to the 1930 census; Harry was a fruit market clerk and Sophronia was a meat market book keeper. Helen at only 10 was probably in school. Would like to exchange info with anyone connected to this branch. Would like to find out what happened to them after 1930. Ted in FL

    3. Hi Tom, Here is a couple of death certs: Request: Death: John I. Cottrell, b. 10 June 1804; d. 11 March 1889; bur. Bethesda Methodist Church Cemetery. Findings: Found a death report for John I. Cottrell, d. 12 March 1889; age 86 yrs., 9 mos., 1 da.; occupation, Farmer; Married; birthplace, Monmouth Co.; last place of residence and place of death, Howell, Monmouth Co., NJ; how long resident in NJ, during life; father, John Cottrell, b. NJ; mother, Mary Bakin, b. NJ; cause of death Apoplexy; burial, Cemetery Blue Bell. Source: 1888-89 Monmouth County Death Certificates, Drawer 677, Place 70, Certificate C52, Microfilm 98 (Trenton, NJ: State Archives) Request: Death: Rachel (Cottrell) Clayton, b. 1827, d. 1882; bur. At Bethesda Methodist Church Cemetery. Findings: Found a death certificate for Rachael Clayton, d. 28 April 1882; age 52 yrs., 1 mo., 25 das.; birthplace, Howell Twp., Monmouth co.; last place of residence and place of death, Harmony, Monmouth Co., NJ; how long resident in NJ, Lifetime; father, John I. Cottrell, b. US; mother, Mary Cottrell, b. US; cause of death, Gastritis, [etc.]; burial, Harmony Churchyard, Monmouth Co., NJ. Source: 1881-82 Monmouth County Death Certificates, Drawer 615, Place 70, Microfilm 42 (Trenton, NJ: State Archives) John I. Cottrell's mother was Mary Baker (not Bakin). There may be some Bakins in the world but I haven't found any around Howell Township yet. John I. had a sister, Phebe Cottrell who I believe was mother to my ggrandfather, William Edward Palmer. Phebe m Forman Palmer and had a bunch of kids. But Forman died probably around 1848 and Phebe was left to struggle on by herself. Looks like she had an affair and William Edward Palmer was born in 1854. If I can find a descendant of her brother, John I. Cottrell I might be able to show relation via DNA testing. Rachel, his dau m John W. Clayton and they had a boy, Wm B. Clayton m Matilda who had a girl, Sophronia D. Clayton. Sophronia m Harry Matthews and they had a girl Helen A. Mathews. And that's where I'm stuck, sortof. Can't find Helen or any offspring who would probably be alive at this time. In the 1930 Lakewood NJ census Sophronia, Harry and Helen are listed. To track them further has to be via other than census records. I found a Edward Burke m. Helen Matthews. He died 1962, buried St Vincent Cemetery, Larksville, PA. His obit I have doesn't name any children. It says Helen Matthews, surviving. That's about where I am presently. If you can find what happened to Helen, who would be 90 years old, that would be a leap forward. What I really need to find is children from Helen, however, unless Helen by some good fortune is still with us.
