    3. Ginny, I understand everything you said and I hope all goes well for him. Like you said the vitamin K interferes with the coumadin and that could cause a problem. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ginnie Carey" <Ginnie.Carey@brevardclerk.us> To: "Jack Allen" <tippy1@comcast.net>; <NJ-MEMORIES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, April 04, 2006 11:37 AM Subject: RE: [NJ-Memories] Re: NJ-MEMORIES-D Digest V06 #21 Jack My husband Dave has had a problem with blood clots for 2 years now. He had a Greenfield Filter implanted last year to catch them. That is just below the heart. He is also on Coumadin. Large amounts of vitamin K from these foods causes the coumadin to lose its effectiveness and clots can form again. Small amounts occasionally seem ok. Hope this helps a bit. That being said it seems that eating too much of the stuff could contribute to blood clots. I'd rather be safe than sorry. Just two months ago my brother had a problem and the blood was clotting in his heart. It eventually threw up a clot and it went to his brain and he had a stroke. ----- Original Message ----- From: <PalmaG72@aol.com> To: <NJ-MEMORIES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, April 04, 2006 9:59 AM Subject: [NJ-Memories] Re: NJ-MEMORIES-D Digest V06 #21 > Jack-my cardioligist asked me what coumadin meant to me- I replied that it > meant no green veggies to eat - he was angered at the medical report > telling me > -he told me if I ate a baleful of greens then it would be a prblem - > coumadin should mean being careful when entering a car not to bump my > head - be > careful of falls, sharp knives and my daughter who was with me jumped in > and said > no going to shopping center on my own which is walking across a 4 lane > highway - she made me promise not to do this anymore - also it means > wearing an id > that tells I am on anticoagulant medication - ai do enjoy greens > now -glaad > you are off coumadin - wish I could -for i hate going for blood tests - > they > are once a month now and not weekly- Marie G > > > ============================== > Jumpstart your genealogy with OneWorldTree.
