Fill buttered dish with 1 layer cooked elbow macaroni, 1 layer diced or whole canned tomatoes sliced including the juice and 1 layer cheddar cheese to totally cover. I use mild but can use medium or sharp to taste. Repeat so you have two layers. For two of us I use 1/2 lb elbows and one 14.5 oz can tomatoes. On top layer dot with butter. Bake at 375 until cheese melts and starts to brown. We used to have it at home and when my dau was allergic to milk it was a good substitute. Dot
