I've made a practice of not opening any downloads that I wasn't expecting, no matter who sends them to me. That's kept me virus-free for the six years that we've been online. A good friend of mine out in California sent me the Goodtimes virus about four or five years ago. She didn't know that she had it when she sent it out, and I didn't know that it was being shipped to me. But since I didn't download the attachment, I never got the virus. She had to get rid of the virus, and so did the mutual friend of ours who had in all innocence sent it to her.
