And because of it, the director of county roads found tucked away in the road department storage garage the original Blue Star Highway sign from 1946 when the Blue Star Highway was created to honor the men and women who served during WW II. When the road director found it, he asked the history group what it was - he never heard of the Blue Star Highway and besides wasn't even born in 1946! Well, the short of it is this. We got the road director interested and he is in touch with the state highway department and we intend to re-post and re-dedicate the sign in a small rest stop on Route 22 (the original Blue Star Highway) in Whitehouse. We HOPE all the paperwork is in place so we can do this Veteran's Day this November. I'll let this list know for sure so if anyone can get to Central Jersey that day they can participate.
