At midnight here in Colorado Springs you can see fireworks set off from the summit of Pikes Peak, provided it isn't overcast. Every year a group that calls itself AdAmAn hikes up there to do the fireworks thing. They've been doing it since back in the 20s or 30s; I don't remember the first year off the top of my head.
