As another summer shore season begins,memories should flow easily for all of us.My grandparents always took my brother and I "down the shore"[as only a Jerseyite would say],for at least two weeks every summer.Those weeks later stretched into an entire season as we became older.I eventually worked for a whole season on the boardwalk in Ocean city in a 5+10 before I left for college in Kentucky. My shore memories began in Atlantic City ,and as years passed we went to Wildwood,North Wildwood,Ocean City,Sea Isle,and then finally they purchased a home in North Cape May.I now visit my son and his family who live in Cape May. Each place gave me sweet ,and yet quite different memories.I got burnt to a crisp in each place even with the slatherings of the latest sun protection.Granted the baby oil and iodine craze did not guard me much,and neither did Gaby.Anyone remember that?It came in a brown glass bottle,and smelled so unique,much like Tangee lipstick!Sea and Ski and Coppertone gave way to something that gave an SPF protection of 30 or more,but nothing gave one that horrible orange glow like that "tan in a bottle"as we called it.What was that terrible stuff called for real,anyone remember?Ah yes...QT.
