Hi Fellow Listers, I grew up in River Edge in Bergen County in the 1940's. Of course,the War put a crimp in much of what went on but we still trick-or-treated.The night before was called mischief night and we dumped over garbage cans,soaped windows and threw eggs at certain people's houses. The common things that we got when we "went begging" were candy,apples,cookies and,best of all,pennies. We "went begging" even into early high school. It was fun.
