    3. Dear Mamie, You have my deepest sympathy on the loss of your Mother. What a grand old age she reached. My Mom reached 93 in 2003 when she died. I think they have long lives in the Valley where they both were born. I am sure our friends would like to know.\ Love Norma

    3. A little later on, us kids would party at Bay Shores, Tony Marts and Anchorage in Somers Point. After they closed at 2 a.m., there were other places to go, if you were inclined, like Dunes 'til Dawn, on Longport Blvd., then to the Point Diner. I used to stay our all night and go right to work at the Diner at 6 a.m. Thomas Henderson wrote: > I worked at the 5+10 on the Ocean City boards the summer before I left > for college. After work at night,we would go bowling at Somers Point and > to eat at the Point Diner. > What a life;sleep 'til noon, bask in the sun on the beach all afternoon, > go to work at 5 ,then go out on dates. > It was a bizillion years ago it seems, another lifetime! > :-) > Jerilyn > > > ============================== > Census images 1901, 1891, 1881 and 1871, plus so much more. > Ancestry.com's United Kingdom & Ireland Collection. My kids used to do this with Play Doh when it first came out. And the lights on the boardwalk were blacked out on the ocean side so the enemy couldn't see them.. Dot

    2. Summertime in World War ll - Atlantic City boardwalk - lots of Soldier Boys - Long lines for the Boardwalk movie houses -especially those Bette Davis movies -One I remember was In This Our Life - Walking the boardwalk past those rich, rich "great big hotels" Is that where they built the present day Casinos? I use to like the doughnut shop in Atlantic City - the one on the boardwalk - also the boardwalk 5 and 10 cent store -one year when I was 14 I bought paper dolls which I bought frequently at home - catch a 14 yr old girl today buying paper dolls - An eight yr old wouldn't buy them - I also bought an art set - it had a stick that the doctors use for us to say "ah" in it along with cut up wax paper - you rubbed the wax paper on a picture and then you rubbled on the paper provided -the picture transfered from the wax paper to the other paper - I loved it Marie G

Haven't been to Seaside Hgts in years, but the last time we went there with my children we saw streakers. When we were older we went to Sea Girt with our children. Pat

    2. Ginnie: I was just talking with my daughter and she said how awesome it would be to hear the sonic boom when they land. She is too far away to hear that. Actually I always preferred the east coast because I love the waves. I am only about 8 miles to the atlantic ocean. I shop in Wall Twp and go to Sea Girt beach to take advantage of the calming effect the waves have on me. Ann In a message dated 8/8/2005 4:41:45 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time, Ginnie.Carey@brevardclerk.us writes: Ann, I am on the east coast, in Titusville, across from Kennedy Space Center, in Brevard County. I will hear the sonic boom when the shuttle comes in, if it is able to land in Fla. I watched from the front door of my work when it took off. Beautiful! I hear the west coast is nice - we have only gone to the St Pete area. Ginnie "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." Helen Keller

    1. Re: [NJ-Memories] Back on the List
    2. Hi All: I am glad to see so many of my old friends are still on the list. I received an email from Carl that he is married and he send a photo, a very nice looking couple! Not only have I had health problems but my computer crashed and I lost everything. Of course I never backed up to CD's. That's another story. My daughter moved to OH stayed there one year and sold her house and moved to Naples, FL. She was renting in Marco Island until the house was ready which is Friday. She moves in on Sat. I will be going back down on the 18th for three weeks. Ginnie are you on the west coast? Eventually I'll have to move down because I have nobody here since I lost two brothers last year (older). I was in a real funk over that. Well, that is my live so far. I am not on the computer like before. But I am glad to see you all are still here. Ann In a message dated 8/8/2005 1:58:35 P.M. 3. Does anyone remember the great tour boats out of Wildwood?Every year we would go on the Scotty Warren in August while we were on vacation.I have a picture of our family all dressed up in our "Sunday Best"[white gloves, shawls, suits, etc]going out for the evening on the boat. Woman always wore high heels ,and they got them stuck in the boards unless they walked on the vertical boards instead of the horizontal ones.Of course if you wanted to be daring you could walk on the concrete section that was for the trams..."watch the tram cars pleeeeeaze!" What a hoot to realize we all got so dressed up!What has this world come to? Jerilyn

    3. No more Hackney's,sad to say. Tony Grant...now that is a name out of the past! My PopPop was an accountant who did the accounting work for the man who had all the arcade machines on the Steele Pier.I used to go with him on the day every month he went to work at the pier. I would be allowed to go to all the shows, and play all the games I wanted.Once I even got a free ride on the diving bell! Miss Carver used to let me pet the diving horses, too.Didn't realize then how special of a treat that was. Were you one of the Tony Grant's Stars of Tomorrow,Ginnie? Jerilyn
