Have loved Taylor Pork Roll since I was 4 or 5 years old. Sometimes we would eat it just fried, other times on bread as a sandwich. We can't buy it here on Prince Edward Island, but I eat it as many meals of Taylor's Pork Roll as I can when I am in NJ, and brings lots home with me. Eileen doesn't care for it, so I get her share. Also love scrapple. We use to make our own each fall so I know what is in it, but love it anyway. Jim from Prince Edward Island. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Dotbnj7@aol.com> To: <NJ-MEMORIES-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, September 13, 2005 10:20 AM Subject: Re: [NJ-Memories] Maine > In a message dated 9/13/2005 8:05:53 AM Eastern Standard Time, > tippy1@comcast.net writes: > I suggested scrapple but not every one eats scrapple -Marie G >> >> > ---------------------------------------- > > Not me. I love scrapple -- almost as much as my husband does. That's one of the reasons we like NJ diners so much. Even my nine-year-old daughter likes it. We were looking for moose while traveling through Maine, and stopped at this little country restaurant for breakfast one morning. I asked the waitress if there were any Moose to be seen around these parts. She said yes, but they only come out when the sun goes down. We left there, and about a mile down the road guess what? We saw two moose standing along the road. I'll send you a picture of them. Diesel

My daugher and her landlady are visiting Maine next week - the lady who owns the cottages never had pork roll - they are bringing her pork roll and tasty cakes - I suggested scrapple but not every one eats scrapple -Marie G
I like the way you cook and eat Pork roll - I also eat it that way - and another way is fried with cheese melted on it served on soft roll with sliced onion and ketsup - Marie G

It's funny you should mention Taylor Pork Roll. I just got back from spending a couple of weeks at the Jersey shore and while there I had to stop at the Point Diner. My sister wanted a pork roll sandwich but, unfortunately, the diner didn't use Taylor brand, so she opted for something different from the menu. After getting home I visited a new grocery store which just opened and imagine my surprise when I found they stocked Taylor pork roll! I always fry mine and enjoy it on an egg sandwich, but I'm curious about other ways to enjoy it. There are many ways to enjoy it but my favorite (and lots of other people's) is fried with fried egg on hard roll. Also cut in pieces and sauted then scramble an egg in it. While not as hard as NJ ones they do serve the purpose. They are the closest I've ever come to a NJ hard roll. They come in a cellophane package of 10.
