Ellen, Here is the site for ShopRite. Closest ones to you are in Stroudsburg and Brodheadsville. Brodheadsville one is the nicest but a little more expensive than Stroudsburg because of the neighborhoods. Dot
Hi All, Long time no write but been a bit under the weather and had some surgery in August. But this old body is healing slowly but surely. You all are making me starve for Shickhaus Bologna. I was able to get it here in PA at the local ShopRite but they moved outta town and now no more Shickhaus. OHHHHHH I can still smell it. I may have to take a drive over the border and get some LOL. I am not crazy for pizza but hubby likes it. I have it delivered for $10 and it tastes like a good NJ pizza. Why make it then??? Also have found Chinese place that advertises NY style Chinese food. It is good so am happy with that one too. Dot

Your fortunate that you can do the work requires for sump pumps and know what you are doing ---so many buy homes and don't know what is required -my son wants to buy the house he rents in Pennington Hopewell area - and it has a sump pump in it - so far the Landlord takes care of this - I told him before he even signs his name on a deed to be sure he knows every inch of the house and property - Marie G
Dot - never heard of Shickhaus hot dogs - the only good ones I know are Nathans ----Marie G
You can have a good pizza in Florida - you buy dough from bakery or supermarket that is already made ----Or go about the hard way make your own dough ----take the dough -stretch it out to fit in a round or rectangle pan ( a cookie sheet) top it with canned tomatoes - break up the tomatoes with a fork first in a bowl before layering the tomatoes on the dough - you may want to put olive oil on the dough first but if you don' t put it on the tomatoes - just dribble it ----then slice nice slices of mozzarella cheese all over the pie as much as you prefer - some oregano - salt and pepper -some sliced garlic - I don't follow recipes - sometime I do but if you want to be safe you must --You also can get an Italian recipe from a recipe book - Bake at 350 degrees until done -I haven't made this in years ----Marie G

Yes, We have a Freidman's and a Shop and Bag also Bank of America, LOL. Not bad for a town of 1500! A Chinese and Italian restaurants and a Pizza joint, an Irish Shop and a Drug Store, almost forgot an elementary school to 8th grade. My house just doubled in price too. There is Connie's Restaurant - great food. When my son came in from OH we had breakfast there and it was the first time he had Pork Roll. Now when I go to OH (He was born and raised in OH) I have to bring a whole Pork Roll besides the Braunschweiger (Schickhaus and bologna). I now realize my children are spoiled. My daughter is 40 and my son will be 50 in Jan. Hope I didn't leave anything out. The only rye bread worth eating is Freedman's ....tried Panera's but just not the same.

Dot: There is the Kaiser Roll and another kind they sell only on Sunday. I haven't seen them in a few years. I'll have to ask about them when I return home. Can't remember the name either. Hi! I am here in Naples with my daughter. We drove back to NJ the beginning of Sept. Stayed 3 weeks and drove back here. My daughter bought a whole Schickhaus Braunschweiger, $16.00. Also brought Freidman's rye and hard rolls. I froze the rolls when I got here. I'm here over 2 weeks and will be flying home to NJ on the 13th. I can't wait to get back to that nice cool weather. I see it was 57 in Farmingdale this AM. I know I'll be back here for Christmas and know the weather will be nicer here than in NJ. The humidity was unbearable here. I won't miss it. I miss the tomatoes, pizza, gosh if I could only find a good pizza in FL. Schickhause (spelling?) franks with the casiing were a treat too. Sederoff's on the ocean in Belmar were the best. Jersybel is thinking of all her NJ Memories Pals and wishing them a wonderful Sunday! Florida suppose to have some nice sunshine today. We should start to have some cooler weather now in October. Far too soon Max's is closed for the winter. If you've not been to Long Branch is the past 2 or 3 years, you just might not recognize the northern part of Ocean Avenue - condos and townhouses by the hundreds. The new pier is a bit of a disappointment, at least to me, as it sits over the beach but not the ocean.
Fortunately I found a place here in Florida with pizza as good as NJ. Now finding the Shickhaus hot dogs is another thing. Have been looking but can't find. We used to get them at Max's in Long Branch. Has anybody read about the new stores and restaurants they have built where the old pier used to be? If anyone has seen it or been there I would love to have a description. And a happy Sunday to you all too. Dot Dot, Check this web site out. http://www.asburyboardwalk.com/recipes.htm There talking about Old Jersey favorites, along with Shickhaus hot dog's. Their also talking about opening an on line store where you can purchast all the boardwalk goodies. Diesel
