It must be good to be able to eat all those good foods and be done with the the constant bloodwork. I see lots of old folks here in Florida with big bruises that you know are the result of coumadin. Keep up the good work. Dot
Well it finally happened gang. I went to Jefferson Hospital yesterday and had my pacemaker/defibrillator replaced. I had to be there at 9AM and didn't get home until about 5:30PM. I was Stuck in traffic both ways. But all went well. My electro-cardiologist interrogated my old pacemaker and it seems that I didn't slip back into atrial fibrillation once ever since I had the cardio conversion. The good news to come out of this is that I no longer have to take coumadin. Boy I'll tell you I was sure missing my spinach, cauliflower, broccoli and cabbage. Now I can have it again. This pacemaker is a lot smaller and lighter than my old one. The Doctor sold me that it would pace my heart only when it needed it and not all the time as my old one did. This means the battery will last much longer. So now I have energy and can breathe much better. The whole process was a pain, but was worth it in the end. --- avast! Best in a long time, and I had enough left over for today. Also had two green beers to go with it. Only Irish in me is from my Great Great grandmother Emma Walker from Susex, NJ 1844-1894 "Hint" I used to go to the Mel's in Ft. Myers for years. There's one half of a 1957 Chev. by the front door at the one here. There's also one down the road near Naples. I thought it was Orange that you didn't wear on St. Patty's Day? I'm mostly British you know. LOL. Diesel
Hi list, Hope you all enjoyed the day. Had my corned beef and cabbage at Mel's Diner in Port Richey and it was great. I just wish places had it more often. It is hard to find the rest of the year. I have Irish Dugans, Kenny and McBride and don't you know I wore purple today not realizing the day it was? :( Diesel, there is a Mel's Diner in Fort Myers. You tried it? Dot

First I wanted to thank everyone for their suggestions. In addition to looking for grants, I am making plans to speak to the various organizations themselves about fund raising for the preservation project. Along with funding will be the eventual problem of space to store the materials making them accessible to the public. And encouraing other residents to preserve their personal papers for the good to the Villages collective memory. The Village of Ridgewood is looking for a viable use for the old Pease Library which at this time is considered an endangered historic building. While it has been a long time since I set foot in the building itself. I can still remember the day my father took my brother and I to get our first library card at the Pease Library. I have written to the League of Women Voters who are hoping the Village will find a use for the building in keeping with the original donors wishes of it always being a library. I made the suggestion that it become the Villages own historical archives. Barbara O'Brien President LWV of Ridgewood emailed after reading my letter just about an hour before their monthly meeting. She made copies of my letter for everyone in attendance. She let me know that the use of the Pease building is unsettled, but it will probably be rented to a cultural organization. The Request for Proposal notice just went out to possible renters. Anyone on the list still living in Ridgewood, a displaced ex resident of the Village, with ancestors from Ridgewood, or any other interest in the Village who would like more information about this let me know and I'd be glad to let you know what else I hear.
