    1. Hello again
    2. Carl and Hawk
    3. Hi Ya'll, I resubscribed about a month ago and didn't see any activity so thought I'd just it it a stab a see if anybody was still there. glad to see the old bunch is still there and hopefully some newbies too. So much has gone on in the last year or so that I don't know where to begin. I had major surgery last June and was out of work for 6 weeks. All is OK and I'm much better. I left the nursery in November, not working in the horticulture field any longer but as all of you know it is my first love so I'll never fully quit. Holly society is still very active (btw I now have 66 different cultivars of holly planted here on the lake property) I'm not even going to tell what I'm doing now because it's so far fetched. I am on the road alot with odd hours. I like it, the pay isn't bad and I have full benefits something I did not have with the nursery. My Mom fell and broke her hip about a year ago she is in an assisted care facility in Hillsborough, I don't ever expect her to come home. It's hot here too 90 plus everyday this weekend but due to cool off in the next couple of days. The corps of engineers did not fill the lake as early as they normally due so going into the Memorial Day weekend it was down from summer pool over four feet. then Thursday night before Memorial Day we had violent storms ( I was in Charleston, West Virginia) that the lake came up over four feet above summer pool. I had to swim to get to my boat. My cousin visited the Czech republic this summer and found the house that our great-grandfathers lived in. Remarkably there is still a Suk living there who happens to be what we think is our fourth cousin. He gave her a copy of the deed which dates back to 1663, with names for further research. I had is translated since it was in old Czech (Bohemian). What a break through for our research. I haven't had much time to do any research lately. OK for now. Jerilyn, Jack, Robin, Norma, Pat, Dot, Ellen, Judy good to hear from you (hope I didn't forget any body) I had to put Diesel on my blocked list because it his emails were causing problems.-----no offense Diesel Keep memories alive, Still have a couple of PORK ROLLS in the freezer. Love ya all-------------------------Carl

    2. Hi Ellen, Had a nice quiet and hot Mother's Day. 96.7 in back yard. Hope the leg heals fast. It can't be very nice to be in one let alone in this hot weather. Wishing for some rain here. Practically a drought now. But Hurricane season starts on Thursday so the rains will come. Spent the day with my kids and gr kids. All are well, my 3yr old gr daughter has a broken leg. Yesterday she asked me to take "that thing" off her leg so she could stand up.

    1. Re: Ginny/Fats Domino
    2. Ginny and anyone else who likes Fats, They have just released a biography "Blue Monday: Fats Domino and the Lost Dawn of Rock 'N' Roll". He lived all of his life within blocks of where he was born and was married to the same woman for nearly 60 years. Since they evacuated him after the storm he now lives on the other side of the Mississippi River. I didn't realize that he was the second best selling artist after Elvis. Elvis then received and still receives all of the attention. People elsewhere weren't even aware of the fact that Fats was still alive until after the storm. The La State Museum went in to salvage some of his personal belongings and hope to restore them. They are supposedly working out a deal with his family. He was supposed to sing and close the Jazz Fest, but he put in an appearance and told the people he was sorry that he was too ill to perform. He is about 78 years old. Pat

    3. Hi All, Tomorrow we were to drive to New Jersey then on to visit our son Matt who is in the Marine Corps and now back from Iraq and stationed in Augusta, Georgia. We had planned a trip of six weeks. Here on Prince Edward Island, Canada we are hearing rumours of gas shortages along the east coast. Is there any truth to this. If so, we will cancel our plans.
