    2. We generally went to Seaside Heights, but sometimes Atlantic City or Asbury Park. Last time we were at Seaside, we saw streakers when we were coming home. Probably 80's/early 90's. Later years, we went to beach near Long Branch, want to say Brigantine, but then I have the beach near Atlantic City wrong that I went to when young. Someone straighten me out. Pat

    2. Doris, I used to love walking home from school and the street dept men would be burning the leaves on the corners in the gutters. It would sometimes be a little hazy from the smoke and today I would probably have an asthma attack. Pat

Which Palisades Park are you talking about? The old Palisades Amusement Park, gone these many years, was in NJ, at the top of the cliffs -- Cliffside Park, I think. Palisades Interstate Park is both in NJ and NY, and I'm not quite sure where the boundaries are without looking at a map. Some of it might be at the foot of the cliffs. Anyhow, it's a scenic, historical and recreational area, complete with hiking trails and suchlike. Bill and I used to hike in that area when we lived in NY City and in NJ. We were last there about eleven years ago. There are some beautiful spots around there, especially looking northward up the Hudson from the base of the cliffs. In fact, if we had big enough trees here to generate piles of leaves, I'd probably still jump in them. I never bothered growing up, in case you guys hadn't figured that out. The other thing I remember about fall back in NJ was the smell of burning leaves. Once we were all finished jumping into the leaf piles, they got raked out into the gutter and set afire. Now of course that's a no-no because of air pollution, but I still miss the fragrance of the smoke.
