Pat - most of us did have the chenile robes - I believe I had them even in the 1950's - another around the house wear for relaxing was the quilted satin lounge sets - the Chinese type - colorful jackets with black satin trousers -loved them - wish I could find them again - bed jackets one doesn't find anymore either - Marie G
Pat - The Vodka is a gift but I did have a bottle I bought for me -Blackberry Brandy - didn't get the Polish kind my son in law bought for me in Williamsburg,Va - they have those State Liquor stores which doesn't cost as much as in NJ -------Marie G
Dot, I was unhappy to hear that one. Our main games was to beat the Giants and the Redskins. I can't imagine Frank when we moved to Va. and couldn't get the Eagles becoming a \Redskin fan. We still have the stupid shirts in the closet. Glad he changed back, but now we didn't get the Eagle game. Sunday. Will not invest in Direct TV after all. Pat - some of the modern music is okay but I love the music from the 40's - also the Bandstand music - the early 1990's music was great but not this heavy metal or rap - I listen to a lot of classical when I get tired of talk radio ---------Marie G

Hi Carl, I am so glad you are back on Memories. You were missed. I thought sure you would give us a receipe for soup using vension, we didn't like the rabbit cake. I brought in my Holly from the yard since you said it was safe for my Bennie. He eats anything that drops and I had always heard the berries were poison. Pat, I'm with you on the Beef Soup, just some herbs. I only put beef, potatoes, onions, tomatoes and some beef broth. It was my Mom's receipe. My grandmother had the wells in her stove. Seems to me there was water in them all the time, and I know she put pots in there too. Those stove lids made great toast too. I have a Jenn aire now which is nice. It has a griddle we use for pancakes ect. and has grills for broiling. Trouble is for 2 of us doesn't get used like it did when the family was home. My favorite herb is basil for salads. Notice when we mention old receipes on here we all end up making soup. Betty was talking about belly flopping the other day, and it brought back memories of those snowy days when us kid's would sneak up behind cars stopped on the street corner's, and hitch a ride on to the car's rear bumper. I would kill my grandchildren If I caught them doing that today. One would hang on the bumper, and the rest of us would hang on to each others feet. Sometimes we would have four, or five kid's being towed behind one car. Now that was fun. Diesel

Betty, We always used to belly flop on the sleds and belly whop in the water when swimming. Hadn't thought of that in years. Pat
Norma, That sounds like good old potato soup to me. I will try it. Thanks for sharing/ Pat
Norma, I like herbs and spices, but not hot spices. Just things that add good flavor. A lot of the recipes my mom used were handed down. A couple of days ago I made vegetable soup with brisket in it. That comes from my ggrandmother. My husband likes his kind of soup with everything but the kitchen sink in it. I like the plain veg and beef flavor. Does anyone remember the stoves with a soup well(?)? The pot fit right in a hole in the stove instead of having the fourth burner. Does anyone know what summer savory is? I think I knew at one time, but have forgotten. My grandmother said you could put summer savory or barley in to make a more hearty soup.
Marie, Didn't all girls wear chenile robes when we were all growing up? Funny that you mentioned that, as I was thinking about that the other day. Pat
