I was on crutches for about two months with that little injury. One big benefit: I was an ER nurse at the time, and having to deal with crutches myself changed my whole approach to teaching my patients how to use the darned things. First things first . . . how to get onto and off the toilet! I sure hope that all you injured people are getting better in a hurry. No fun having an injury at Christmas time -- or any other time, for that matter. And to complicate matters further, my poor hubby is home with the local intestinal bug; he was up most of the night with it, which meant that I was, too. Yes, Marie, I'm gargling with salt water; it really does help! And the awful medication that you remember was ETH (elixir of terpin hydrate), which was usually given in a formulation with codeine as an expectorant and cough suppressant. You never hear of it any more; there are perfectly good over-the-counter medications that do the same thing without putting people to sleep or making them sick to their stomachs. Betty, That was a wonderful, heartwarming story. Always good to hear of marriages that are good and last that long. Congratulations! Pat
Dave, Are you out there lurking also? Haven't heard from you on here in quite awhile. Pat
Carl, Forgot that you were lurking. Thank you for telling me what summer savory is. Wonder how those herbs make something more hearty? Glad that you are back as we miss you and your input. Pat

Just back from the neurologist! I have post concussion syndrome. So it could be a while till all the symptoms are gone. Thanks for your kind thoughts. Fortunately, I was just stepping on to the second rung when the hinge collapsed (it wasn't locked) and the top of the ladder fell and hit me taking me to the ground and rendering me unconscience for a couple of seconds only. Now I can look forward to a happy Christmas. Hi Lee, I hope you get your detector it sounds like a lot of fun. I am going to comment on your writing. I know how hard you have been trying to write without the caps. Diesel TH, Thank God for Diesel too. I can always count on him for good jokes and the comments are better than the jokes. We do have the same sense of humor, good or bad. lol. The computer keeps us all sane and now Diesel you will have time to catch up on your genealogy, you too Carl. I plan to do that all winter. A comment to Marie and Diesel, since I lived above Trenton 35 yrs. I can remember it being a beautiful city, and also remember the changes too. One thing I do remember is going down by the monument and the shops having the groundhogs and other delicacies hanging out of the shops. Might have been pre-road kill, which is popular today with many good receipes for them too. Thanks Betty I am on my way soon to have lunch with Katie and Frank and do a little shopping. I still have problems leaving the house, fear of falling won't go away. I actually walked out in my yard yesterday and worried every step. Decorated the porch but felt save there. I cannot get up by myself, can't use the wrists or the knees, a beached whale comes to mind.
