He had rugged good looks and I enjoyed the show. I always remember his name because an old friends maiden name was Horsley and she has a brother Lee. One of our daughters is in Monument visiting her in-laws. Her father in law is a surgeon and retired as of yesterday from the army at Fort Carson. He was suppossed to get out last year but he was some big wigs personal physician so they wouldn't let him go after 9/11. For the past year he has bee juggling his Army duties with that of chief of surgery at Rose Medical Center. Our daughter called to wish us a Happy New Year and said it is really snowing there. They are off skiing tomorrow! Judy

There was one whom I do remember; I just can't remember his name, since I hardly ever watch TV. He was very good looking, though -- slender with light brown hair and a mustache. Anyhow, the nurses who did get to take care of him said that he was very pleasant, and an elderly patient who was on the same floor as he when he was admitted told me later on that he came and visited with her in her room. I wish I could remember his name . . . can somebody refresh my memory? We have one on a spike on our back fence, and it keeps the squirrels out of the birdseed as long as I remember to take the empty one down and replace it with a fresh one. 3. Hoppin john is a rice and black-eyed peas dish served in the southern states on New Year's Day for good luck. It is cooked with a little chopped-up ham, celery, onions and salt and pepper. Served with it are sides of collard greens and cornbread. My daughter, who was raised in South Carolina from fourth grade on, makes it every year - I eat a little, but having New Jersey taste buds, it is not my favorite meal. Faye

    3. Happy New Year Everyone. Please enjoy. Robin AT THE END OF THE YEAR I cannot let the old year die Without a thought of you; Without a wish for Christmas joys, And New Year blessings too. It is a time when all the world Seems like a joyous choir, That reaches out to spread good will, And wakens with desire. It is a time when friends and kin Meet round a common board, To share the love and fellowship That happy days afford. It is a day to offer praise Unto the Heavenly King; To give him thanks for ????? gift This blessed day may bring, And now my warmest wishes go To loved ones and to friends, That peace and joy be in your hearts, And love that never ends. 2. Ellen, I will glad to let you borrow another ice pick so you can plant things now. I didn't realize that Pointsettias would grow outside here, but my dau's friend's parents had to hack out the bushes along their fence to clear it. The father just planted them spaced out along his walkway and front flower beds and then had a massive stroke about four days later and died. The front of his house looked beautiful for the holidays. Begonias and gardenias, also, grow well outside down here. We used to have camellias under our bedroom windows. They were plants that I always thought of as indoor plants. I guess our fren up or down the hollar will let us know. LOL Pat
