I am sorry,I pushed the wrong button too early.I am getting used to a new computer. :-) Here is a poem I began to include in the last post.I wrote it several years ago,but it is applicable today. July In Jersey This morning is quiet and pleasant and cool. July in South Jersey that isn't the rule. The "muggies"beset us and rest we don't get, ...but just wait a minute...a front...do not fret! It hits us ,a storm comes, the thunder does roll. July in South Jersey, does take quite a toll. The people, the pets, and the crops of sweet corn are happy this morning because it is cool ! >
Welcome back Jerilyn, missed by all.. Jersybel
Kittie, I am lurking a little its in and out. I wish I was able to go to the OB and visit with you. Which grandkids are you taking? You were one of my memories people, and glad we always kept in touch. As Jerilyn says we are all family. Remember where we will be together someday BR. I will be there first. lol. Hope you didn't get any damage to your home with all that wind going up past us to Jersey. Our little tonado was not much for us, I pity our neighbor major damage. Don't want to see one again. Normie, I don't know about the rose hips on the OBX but will check next month. Wish I was closer to you, I'd go out and pick all those blueberries. We used to have a summer home in Highland Lakes, NJ and the blueberries we picked there were wonderful! We have lots of blackberries around here but they aren't one of my favorites so I don't pick them. I'm resting up after having 3 of the grandkids for 2+ weeks! I may be lurking for a while. Sorry to hear about Robin's accident, hope all is well with her. Wherever all of you have settled, you each still has that friendly Jersey personality and love for your neighbors that gives our home state its warmth. Ginnie, your card was great,it is gracing our mantle in the living room for all to enjoy. Thanks again for your caring support. Jerilyn

(: I'll tell you what happened to me just last year. I was in the garage in the Pocono's during a storm cleaning up. I took hold of an auto brake rotor I had laying around to put it back in the corner out of the way, and just as I set it on the floor, lightning came through the floor, through the rotor, and went right out the roof of the garage. It knocked my about four feet back on my butt. I started looking for burn's on me because of the bright blue flash of light, and the smell of heat. But, I had none. However I did go in and change my shorts. LOL. It was scary believe me. This is the third time I came very close to death, so I guess the Good Lord is just not ready for me yet. I really enjoy seeing all of you back on memories again. Diesel
A good time for the Great Falls is Labor Day -- they have a whole celebration there - food, vendors of goods, music, and entertainment such as a tightrope walker across the falls. There is also a museum area there too. Speaking about mansions -- Lambert Castle -- home of the Lambert family -- wealthy silk mfr. in Paterson -- now is a museum and houses the genealogical soc. of Passaic Cty. They restored it a few years back and I haven't had a chance to go there myself. When I did go it was closed -- but the view of Paterson from Rifle Camp Park that is there is spectacular -- you are on top a mountain overlooking the city. You also can see the Castle from Rt. 80. The Thanksgiving rivalry at Roosevelt Stadium was Union Hill vs. Emerson -- been that way since early 1900's. In my family -- my brother and cousins went to Emerson -- I was the black sheep that went to Union Hill. It's been a long time since I went to Deal/Ocean Grove and drove along the ocean there. Those homes were beautiful -- does it still have the same look and ambience? Did I mention the Hamilton/Burr duel reenactment in Weehawken? I couldn't go because of BD party, but they had a whole slew of events going on that day -- wish I could've been there. They even had Hamilton arrive by boat -- (some group that has built wooden boats for the Hudson, trying to revive the Hudson boating scene -- look like long wooden canoes with oars) I also didn't realize that Aaron Burr's home was the Heritage -- which is also a museum. I have to make a concerted effort to go there. Funny when I went on the Weehawken website -- I found out that a guy I graduated with from HS is the Deputy Mayor. Knew he had been a councilman there. Having read much and seen pictures, we really should make the effort. Old mansions ...when we drive along Ocean Avenue in West End section of Long Branch and Deal, it's hard to remember they way it was when we first moved to the Shore back in 1956. Then the area was the "Yellow Brick Road" and during the off-season rarely saw a light in the windows - strictly summer mansions. Now no longer are there million dollar homes - that's just the cost of the lot. It truly is a renaissance in Asbury Park: the restoration of homes has brought benefits to the entire community with a number of new businesses starting up. Carl, Sorry to hear about your pal..... hope trip home allows you some relax time but sounds pretty busy. I have childhood friend here with me for a few weeks. Took him in to hospital on Tuesday for a cleaning of the carotid. High risk so I spent three days in CICU and just out tonite at pm. Having wonkers of storms here.. dont know what the word means but just came to mind as I hear the thunder. Had Tuesday a surge protector put on house as we do live now in the lightening capitol of the world. Sunday Orlando had 16,000 lightening strikes in one day.. wheee! Regards to all.. so glad to see us Jersyites up and running again. My childhood pal grew up in Spring Lake Heights.. so enjoys my chatter on our memories... Love ya all.. Jackie, Once a Jersybel, always a Jersybel. PS: Went to have pals perscription filled at 5pm tonite on way home from hospital. Gal who waited on me in new CVS here said from Meford Lakes and Burlington area. Saw her former home there in Burlington area she sold this past year underwater in a news cover.. she nearly fainted. A big blow to area.

Ruth, Can you imagine how much that car would be worth now? We let a lot go to the junk yards and now they are antiques. My Mother had an old car in the 40's can't remember it but it was big and a little ugly. Ruth, I will definitely try this. I look for all new ways to spice up canned soups. I think the asparagus in this would really make it great. l love Clam Chowders N.E. or Manhattan. Yesterday on here got hungry and made cake, a no no for me as of many years now. So am I having soup today?, probably we love it. Need to leave now to feed Frank and go to the Food Lion before it gets nasty outside. Ginnie, Aren't they a fun thing? Did I tell you katie go a silver Bug. An elderly gentlemen bought it to take his grandkids to the beach. Didn't work out so it sat in the garage for 2yrs. She got it half price and I think 7000 miles. She is so protective of it can't be a spot on it. When that tornado hit the other night all limbs missed her car she would have had a heart attack if one had hit.
