Hi Everyone, Hope that all made it through the storm alright. My aunt and uncle had just moved on to Hutchinson Island, area where the storm was projected to hit. They evacuated to Port St Lucy(?) in same area. Just heard they made it alright, but don't know how the cousins on the west coast did. Sister in Law's relatives in Daytona and heard that was hit very hard. Praying for all. Pat

We have a email group that we all communicate on and On of our dear brothers placed a inviation to these Church Meetings to work their way to Charlotte. I may be helping in organizing some of it. If the Lord has me to do that. I am the only one that is free and have older kids. Please pray for all of these people and for our Church's people. I'll talk Soon, Love to all, Robin PS: HI Diesel and Jerilyn and Carl I reall miss everyone. -------Original Message------- From: [email protected] Date: 09/02/04 22:24:50 To: [email protected] Subject: [NJ-Memories] hurricane Hi Guys, You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Dot and Ginny, Seems we may not be getting the brunt of Francis, but who knows it may go inland and come right up here. Granddaughter is in Jacksonville so will hear from her today. We are staying also, 4 people, 4 dogs, frog, and hampster. If Rachael comes add 2 adults, son, and 2 dogs. Hmmm. Not to make light of this but I hope and pray for all those in the path of this horrible storm. My heart goes out to those in Fla. once was enough. Friend George in PR has not gotten in touch, hope for him too. Jackie, A little piece of advice. I ran inland when Charley came and he passed us by anyhow and came after you. Be sure if you are leaving that you have a motel reservation. We left on Thursday afternoon and got a place but people who came in on Friday morning were being turned away. Sure hope it doesn't hit by you. It says at this point it will be further south. My husband's sister and her husband were here last Mon and Tues. Left for her dau's in Wellington by Lake Okechobee on Wed. and planned on going home on Saturday of last week. He fell and broke his hip Friday so had to go to the hospital for surgery to fix it. He has to go to a rehab tomorrow for 10 days and here this hurricane is coming right at them. And to make matters worse they told him today that there was a tumor in his hip and it is cancerous. Hope they make out well over there. I could take her here but he would have to stay there. She won't leave him anyhow. I just spoke to her and she said "I'm never coming to Florida again." Can't say that I blame her. Marie, I am glad that your shoulder has responded to treatment.Perhaps next year you will be able to go on an extended vacation to Canada.Tom's sister lived for many years in Fredericton,N.B.She is the one who now lives in Port Charlotte,Fl. .,and thankfully was spared harm in the hurricane.Canada has great beauty. I am sorry you did not realize that my sister's son Philip was instantly killed in the accident on June 10th.I was able to fly out for the funeral, and for that I am quite thankful. This has been a very difficult summer for our family, beginning in May with my mother-in-law's passing..After we got home from Philip's funeral,my step-father had to have very serious and unexpected heart surgery. Our whole family is looking forward to a healing Autumn season.Leaves turning, children returning to school, and the birds flying south are all seasonal reminders that we can look forward to better times.Life has all kinds of cycles, and none is forever. Jim, we will all be praying for your son and praying that the need to have our boys over there is soon ended. Marie, Hope the shoulder is better before you know it. That's no way to spend a summer. Dot Jim - I will be praying for your son who has been deployed in Iraq - Yesterday I met a lady in Church who was on my trip to Nova Scotia (1997) we certainly had a wonderful time -I would love to go again - and maybe I will do so - this summer I could not go anywhere - had to go to Physical therapy since June ---I still have to go - I hope this coming Wednesday will be finished - my shoulder and arm is healing---so the PT did some good ------Marie G

Hi all, Matt has finally been deployed to Iraq. He arrived last Monday and is "in place" now as an Arabic Interpreter with a Radio Battalion. He emailed early this morning from Iraq and says it is much better than life at Camp Le Jeune MCB in South Carolina. More informal and less regimented. He also has air-conditioned quarters and eats in the officers mess, so that sounds ok to me. He has liked being in the Middle-East, and I wish I could join him. Thanks for writing, Pat. We've been so busy with Matt's deployment finances, etc that there has been little time to think about memories of NJ. As I wrote before, I thoroughly enjoyed our week in Monmouth County during May and revisited so many places I had not seen for 50 years or more. However, I am always happy to return to peaceful Prince Edward Island after the traffic, crowds, and pace of life in Monmouth County. I invited Diesel to stay with us here on PEI but he said they would not be going that far, only to Nova Scotia, and perhaps next year when he has the RV. Jim from Prince Edward Island
Hi Jim, We shall be praying for Matt. Please tell him we send our best wishes. He may remember me from when I wrote to him while he was in training.Tom and I thank him for his service on our behalf. My sister's eldest son David is to be deployed to Iraq in early December. It will be difficult to say goodbye to him for us all.His younger brother Philip was killed in June in an auto accident two weeks after his high school graduation. We have missed you on Memories,Jim.It has been a quiet summer on the list. Now that summer is winding down, the activity may pick up. For those of you who have been wondering how my step-father is doing after his heart surgery,he has been coming along very slowly. He is home, but is having trouble keeping up his oxygen level. Do any of you have any special plans for Labor Day?We are going to the Chesapeake with a few of our friends. This weekend I was in Cape May enjoying the waning days of summer. The birds were flocking and preparing to go south, already.A sign of a difficult winter to come,I wonder? Are you "snowbirds"preparing to go soon too? Hi Kittie, Glad you got to go when you did. One week earlier would not have been too good. Glad you had minor damage. I am glad our storm came in on the border and the eye went over us. I was amazed at the damage all around us. The OBX is such a beautiful place and we haven't been there in years. Would like to take the ferry over and see it one more time. Hi all, I'm back from the OBX, minor Charlie damages. Lots of standing water but the weather was wonderful and we had a great time. Some of the damaged homes from Isabelle were still standing but most had been replaced, demolished or repaired. It was nice to see so much beach in Kitty Hawk and Nags Head even though it is very narrow. We stay in Southern Shores right next to Duck where the damage to homes wasn't so bad.
