Genealogical Society of New Jersey Volunteer News March 2005 Welcome to another exciting issue of "Volunteer News"!! It's hard to believe that over one year ago, GSNJ enlisted the help of a small team of volunteers with Society projects. To date, over 30 volunteers have assisted the Program and Website Committees. Thank you to all who have answered our call for help and we look forward to working with you on new and exciting projects in 2005. This edition will update you on the status of our current and upcoming GSNJ Volunteer Activities. CURRENT PROJECTS: GSNJ Website: In the past two months, 22 volunteers took on the task of transcribing GSNJ's Collections Guides and Family Records #3991-5833. Currently, 6 of the 9 Collection Guides (Finding Aids) have been transcribed and are available *online* at www.gsnj.org! Also, our team of volunteers has proofread the Master Index (head of family) for 1,843 Family Records that were received by GSNJ from 1979 through 2004. This Index is available *online* at www.gsnj.org! Check it out using our search engine... http://www.rootsweb.com/~njgsnj/collectionguide.html UPCOMING PROJECTS: Please check out our listing of potential projects to find one that matches your interests and time availability... Program Committee: We are planning an exciting all day program for Saturday, June 11, 2005 which will be co-sponsored by the Gloucester County Historical Society and feature Megan Smolenyak Smolenyak.
