Hi All Shameless self-advertising plug follows! I want to remind you all about the great lecture series coming up in Trenton, and starting Next Week!! Please feel free to forward this message to any and all you think might be interested in the reminder... GSNJ and the NJ State Archives are co-sponsoring Exploring Your Jersey Roots III, starting Wednesday evening April 26. There are 5 Wednesday evening lectures, through May 24. The grand finale is GSNJ's all day Spring Program with the NJ State Archives on Saturday, June 3. Subjects for the Wed. evening lectures are: Internet Sources for NJ Genealogy (John Konvalinka); Using the Records of the East and West Jersey Proprietors (Joe Klett); the New Face of FamilySearch.org (Cheri Wortmann); Tracing Your Immigrant Family at the NJSA (Bette Epstein), and Genealogy for Kids... (Casey Zahn). Wed evenings will also feature extended hours in the microfilm reading room at the NJSA for attendees! Subjects for Sat, June 3 are: Tracing Your Rev War Ancestor at the NJSA (Catherine Medich); Research at the Military History Institute [Carlisle Barracks] (Richard Baker); [NJSA] Website and Database Sources for Military Research (Calder & Thiele); and 20th Century Military Research (Larry Fermi). Saturday will also feature four "Ask the Experts" sessions - two as panel discussions and two sessions of one-on-one individual assistance segments. Oh - And did I mention there will be book vendors, etc?? And the discount at BooksNJ? And an included box lunch? And did I mention that Sat June 3 there is also street festival in Trenton so maybe the family can come and be entertained as well? All the program details and registration form can be found on the GSNJ website: <www.gsnj.org> Click on the "Exploring Your Jersey Roots" button to find it all... Or if you would like a brochure copy mailed to you - Or if you would be interested in getting a supply of the brochures to put out at a society, library, or Family History Center near you ... we would be happy to send one or as many as you want to you by mail! Just let me know... For those of you who live out of state or can't get to Trenton - we are working out details for being able to provide copies of the syllabus for sale after the events are completed. Once this is worked out - we'll post a notice about how to participate in this phase of the events... Thanks and maybe we'll meet some of you there! Regards, Joan (aka Prez of GSNJ) Joan M. Lowry mailto:jmlowry@earthlink.net
Providing copies of the syllabus for those of us who live out of state is a great idea! The lecture series and all the surrounding activities have sounded so great, I have been jealous and just sorry that I can't come in person. Being able to buy the syllabus would help to alleviate that feeling! I hope your plans work out.
