    3. "I have an Aunt thru marriage, Marge Stanley, still living. She married Joseph MATHEWS. I believe she was originally from the state of Maine". Thanks Jeanine, The MATHEWS caught my eye, "one T" is the way our Mathews spelled their name. I recently found where JAMES MATHEWS was a roofer in Manhattan and his sons seemed to follow the business with him except for son Andrew who was a clerk. A nephew James, was working and living with the Mathews. He had two daughters who never married, Catharine and Sarah. Sons were William, Robert and Andres. The wife was Bridget Wallace Mathews who had died before 1880. James may have lived until after 1890. I found Catharine living with her younger brother, Andrew in 1920. James and Bridget were both born in Ireland and came to America (NY) around 1850's. In the 1970's I found a lady Elinor Mathews who was a cousin and she was working on the family genealogy for her niece and nephew. I never heard anymore and wish I knew the niece and nephew that received this genealogy report. Elinor was living in the Bronx. I know this is our family and does anyone out there connect?
