Article Text: Jersey City, May 22.--Timothy MURRAY, 30 years old, of 103 Thirteenth street, was held without bail by Judge NEVIN in the First Criminal Court yesterday morning for atrociously assaulting Joseph SIGNASKA, of 112 Essex street. SIGNASKA is in the City Hospital in a critical condition. His skull is fractured, and he will have to undergo an operation which will probably result in his death. Knowing that he is likely to die, he has made a statement in which he says positively that MURRAY is the man who assaulted him. The assault, which occurred last night in the grocery store of August GEIST, was the result of a dispute over some potatoes which SINGNASKA said were worthless. MURRAY struck SIGNASKA on the head with a soda water bottle. When James MURRAY, 33 years old, a brother of SIGNASKA's assailant, heard that the injured man was likely to die and that his brother would probably become a murderer, he dropped dead. He had been suffering with heart trouble for some time. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NJ-Old-News ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ NewspaperAbstracts.com - Finding our ancestors in the news!
