If you're interested, please e-mail me offlist. The 1778 Revenue Law was an "Act to Raise the sum of £100,000 by taxation" and the 1779 Revenue Law was an "Act to Raise the sum of £3,375,000 by taxation". Each year or so thereafter, the State enacted this legislation to assess and collect taxes to run the government.
