Step One: Consult the Docket Index to find matching entries and make note of the Docket Number (#1-10000). *Index to surrogate's dockets, A-G, 1857-1949 - FHL Film [ 914365 ] *Index to surrogate's dockets, H-R, 1857-1949 - FHL Film [ 914366 ] *Index to surrogate's dockets, S-Z, 1857-1949 - FHL Film [ 914367 ] tep Two: Consult the Proceeding Index to determine what type of estate and the paperwork that was filed for the estate. *Surrogate's dockets, nos. 1-2000 - FHL Film [ 914369 ] *Surrogate's dockets, nos. 2001-6000 - FHL Film [ 914370 ] *Surrogate's dockets, nos. 6001-10000 - FHL Film [ 914165 ] Step Three: Consult the appropriate record groups based on the information recorded in the Proceedings Indexes: *Applications for probate of will *Will Books *Applications for administrations *Releases *Orphans court records *Administrators & guardians bonds Step Four: Consult the Unrecorded Estate Papers files to review paperwork filed in addition to that listed in the Proceedings Index. *Unrecorded estate papers, nos. 1-8603 (covers 1857-circa1900) are available through a LDS Family History Center.
