Hello all I am doing some research of the Platt family from Burlington Co. who came to Dover Twp., Monmouth Co. I know that Thomas Platt (b. abt. 1685-91) who lived in Burlington Co. went to St. Mary's Protestant Episcopal Church in Burlington. He married a Mary unk. He may have been married twice as I see the name of Jane. I believe it was with wife Mary that he had many children and believe several were baptized at St. Marys. Would anybody know where I could obtain early records of the church or burials? I know of John B. Platt was baptized there abt. 1718 according to information I saw. He removed to Dover Township. I'd like to follow the family line thru Abraham to Jesse Platt (b. 12-23-1778) whose daughter was Rebeca Platt who married John Giberson Jr 1-26-1841. Especially interested in Jesse Platt who married Elizabeth (Stout?) Genie Giberson ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.

Hello All -- My Burlington Co. snag seems to be the family of Caleb BUDDEN -- found in the 1860 Southampton census with wife Alice (BARNEY) - both are 39. With them at that point is three daughters -- Adelaide, age 6, Anna B., age 4, and Keziah, age 1. Everyone born NJ. I'm pretty sure that there's a son Caleb also, who shows up on other censuses, living with other folks. He's shown on 1880 census with senior Caleb and Alice, at age 28. I've never been able to find anything on the senior Caleb and not much on Alice. I know we're connected as the 1 yr. old Keziah becomes the wife of my Charles Cox, thus the mother of my Hannah Cox, b. 1879. Haven't found any marriages for the other Budden girls. I posted these folks when we were doing the alphabet and didn't get "the magic answer", but one must try, try again!! :))) And just for the heck of it -- the above Hannah's sister, Pauline Cox, married W. Everett HORNER, which produced a daughter, Irma L Horner. Just found her this past week or so. Hope all are well -- Terri in WA

Hi guys................sorry I have not been around. My computer died and I stopped at school to post a quick message...............as soon as I get back online from home then I can do more. Working 2 jobs has not been all that helpful but the money coming in has been nice..........been taking care of a neighbor who had hip surgery and she is making me bonkers also!!!!!!!!! And you all thought I was crazy to begin with - I am even crazier now!!!!!! Went to meet up with family in Whiting, NJ and was able to get information on the Raws family clear back to 1780. As soon as I get through the 10 pages my cousin gave me then I can plug in names here that I have that others may be looking for............so give me some time!! My daughter's job will be getting new computers soon and as soon as that happens - she will be giving me her puter from the job as everyone gets to take the old one home when they get replaced with new ones as soon as the reconstruction is over............it should be soon!! I am going to ask at school also to see if I can snag an old one here for the time being............ Hope all is well!!!!!!!!! Hello Patti, Abraham Brower b. 1675, married Lea Demarest, d/o Jean. Lea was born 1682, and married 1700. In the Will of Abraham Brower he names his BROTHER in LAW as JAMES CRISTY. Because I did not see any sister of Abraham married to James Cristy, I had to assume that James Cristy is married to one of Lea Demarest's sisters. Now you have come forward with the information that James Christie married Magdalena Demarest in 1708. "The Demarest Family" 1964, Voorhis David Demarest. This work states that Lea, Magdalena and Peter Demarest are 3 of 11 children of John Demarest (aka Jean de Marets) and his first wife Jacomina de Ruine. This would make Lea Brower and Magdalena Christie sisters. PLEASE send me and/or post here the children of James and Magdalena Christie. NOTE: if you consult the original email below, I have added new information to it, in order to reflect the true connections and identifications. Also NOTE: that Jacob Brower b. 1709 was 16 years old when his father Abraham wrote his Will. He is not mentioned by name in the Will, but there is wording which states for 'my minor children'. I suppose Jacob Brower was not mentioned because of his not being of age, and thus could not inherit land out right, but he could have been mentioned and a court guardian appointed and thus he could inherit later whenhe turned 21. However, Jacob Brower was a son of Abraham Brower and Lea Demarest, he married Jannetje Hartje. >From the Archives of the State of New Jersey, First Series: Documents relating to the colonial history of the state of New Jersy, Will, Vol 1 1670-1730 (William Nelson) Paterson, NJ 1901 page 136 In the Will of John DES MARETS, of New Barbados, Bergen Co NJ dated March 29, 1714, and proved Nov 10,1719, there is listed Lea, wife of Abraham Brower. Magdalena is the wife. Lea's siblings are: John Demarest of Apoghquinimy, PA; Peter Demarest of New Barbados, NJ; Maria Demares wife of Jacobus Shot; Sarah Demarest wife of Abraham Cannan; Rachel Demarest wife of Thomas Hyer; Jaquemire Demarest wife of John Stward of Chester Co; Magdalena Demarest wife of James Christianson. (Note: James Christie) Can you please reply to me, or post your BROWER ancestors, or who you are interested in. I might know them. In my source documentation for Hunterdon "Historical Collections of the State of New Jersey.....", Published in 1861, authors: John W. Barber and Henry Howe. As this is just a collection of bits and pieces I don't have the page numbers for the citation and specifically what I have is a description of the ten townships that make/made up Hunterdon County as of 1861. "Hunterdon Co. was set off from Burlington C., in 1713, and named after Gov Robert Hunter. its limits have since been reduced by the formation of Warren, Sussex, Morris and Mercer Cos." So not sure which date would be correct. But for sure prior to 1713/1714 these counties overlapped tremendously and some where not yet even created. I do not too often distinguish between the areas and I normally treat it all as New Jersey when going back that far or further. Sharon

David Samuelsen -------- Original Message -------- Subject: [NY-CEMETERIES] Staten Island Quarantine Cemetery Date: Tue, 17 Apr 2007 20:23:15 -0500 From: Vanessa Burzynski <[email protected]> Genealogy community can help provide a dignified re-interrment of immigrants exhumed from Staten Island Quarantine Cemetery, buried from 1799-1858. Friends of Abandoned Cemeteries of Staten Island NY has sent a plea for letters of support for the proper re-interrment of the immigrant remains that were EXHUMED from a municipal parking lot once the site of the NYC Quarantine Hospital/cemetery. This particular NYC Quarantine station operated from 1799-1858. The immigrants who came to the USA during this time as well as those with disease living in the NYC Metropolian area and were ill (as many were) passed through the S.I. Quarantine Hosp and ultimately many died and were buried at the cemetery now a MUNICIPAL PARKING LOT. These human remains were EXHUMED in 2006. They are now held at a facility located in Brooklyn in storage boxes. Friends of Abandoned Cemeteries has offered a large section of a historic cemetery that we maintain for the proper reinterrment of these HUMAN remains. Without letters of support from you the genealogy community, these remains will be PUT BACK INTO THE PARKING LOT! Paved over once again and forgotten. Please, we ask that you take 1 minute of your time, send a letter of support to: [email protected] . Support the reinterrment to Staten Island Cemetery. Time is once again running out for these unfortunate travelers. We in the genealogy community have accumulated their information, now we must provide to them final dignity. Your letter of support could make this possible. Please send a letter of support today to [email protected]
The Eighth Edition of the Handy Book for Genealogists gives the information that Burlington county was created in 1694. It was an original county. Hunterdon county was created in 1714 from Burlington county. Maps earlier than 1694 show that Burlington county once included Cape May county and Atlantic county. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
