Lubbock Avalanche Journal Lubbock, Texas February 15, 1998 Johnnie Nix Services for Johnnie M. Nix, 83, of Amarillo, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Sanders Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. John Ballard, a Baptist minister, officiating. Entombment will be in Resthaven Mausoleum under direction of Sanders Funeral Home. She died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, in Ware Memorial Care Center in Amarillo. She was born April 24, 1914, in Oklahoma. She graduated from Plainview High School and attended West Texas College. She married Fred Nix on April 24, 1939, in Earth. He died in May 1984. She moved to Lubbock in 1947. She was a member of the Eastern Star and First Baptist Church. She taught school in Springlake. Survivors include a daughter, Billie Nix Jones of Amarillo; two sisters, Floy Sudberry of Oklahoma City and Faye Squyres of LaVerne, Calif.; four grandchildren; and six great-granchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today. The family requests memorials to Ware Memorial Care Center, 1300 S. Harrison, Amarillo 79101, or to the Carol Jones Brooks Memorial Library in care of VSA Hospital, 1600 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo 79106.
