Burial will follow at the Lynnville (IN) Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM Central Daylight Time on Sunday, May 3, 1998. Mrs. Nix died Friday, May 1, 1998 at the Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville. She was born December 5, 1927 in Lynnville, IN, daughter of Prentice Barker and Nell Lois (Gilley) Barker. Mrs. Nix attended Evansville College and earned bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Indiana University. She taught special education in both Clark and Floyd Counties. Survivors include husband Robert Ermil Nix of Jeffersonville; son Glenn Nix of Edina, MN; three daughters, Susan Nix of Wilmington, DE, Kay Olges of Harrodsburg, IN and Lora Nix of Jeffersonville; two brothers, Robert and Keith Barker; four sisters, Janice Yager, Cheryl Mooney, Sandra Heathcock, and Peggy Ashby; and four grandchildren. Sister Marilyn Moore preceded Mrs. Nix in death. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
