THE CLARION-LEDGER (Jackson, MS), Monday, September 21, 1998, p4B LAUREL--Deavours Nix, 72, a retired restaurant owner, died of lung cancer Saturday at South Central Regional Medical Center. Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Sharon with burial in Sharon Cemetery. Visitation is 5-9 p.m. today at Memory Chapel. Mr. Nix formerly owned John's Restuarant and Nick's Steak House in Laurel. He was a Korean War Navy veteran. He was a charter member of Dixie Golf Club and a member of the Masons, Shriners and Hillcrest Baptist Church. Survivors include: wife, Donna; sons, Lanny D. Nix and Jason Nix, both of Laurel; daughters, Judy Graham of Laurel and Rita Robinson of Meridian; brothers, T. W. Nix of Hattiesburg and Billy Nix of Birmingham; sisters, Mildred Gavin of Laurel and Gay Funk of Springhope, NC; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
