    3. In a message dated 98-03-24 04:27:56 EST, you write: << I would like to add my name to this list of people looking for information about John and/or Edward NIX in Oklahoma or Texas. >> Alan, while you are looking for John and/or Edward NIX in Ok. & Tex., you may run across one of mine, although I can't see any connection to your family. My gr grandparents were James Layfette NIX b. 1858 Ga. and Nancy Adoline Seabolt. They had children born in Ga. and Ala. before moving to Texas probably in the mid 1890s. They had seven children and among them was a John F., b 1884 Ga., m. Donia Addison. He lived in the Farmersville-Dallas area and had two daughters Velma and Pauline. He died in 1960 and is buried at Dallas. John F. had a brother Edward, but I don't think you will run across him as he died at about 2 years of age. These Nixes came from Ga. and Ala. to Texas, then Okla., along with relatives named Smith. James Layfette Nix was the son of Cisro Valentine Nix and Cynthia R. Smith. Thought you might like this info as you will probably run across others named John Nix. Chris Rodriguez

    1. [NIX-L] John Baptist Adam Nix
    2. D Nix
    3. Our family has lost track of my Grandfather's brother. My grandfather was Valentine Silas Nix, born in Wendelin, IL. His brother, John Baptist Adam Nix, was born Jan. 11, 1898 also in Wendelin, IL. Wendelin is in Jasper county. There were 6 children of John Baptist Nix and Anna Lilly Kistner. Anna was pregnant with John when the older John died. My Father, Robert Dale NIx, was in the Navy during WW2. He was stationed at Harvey Field, at Indo Kern, California, on the Mahovie Desert, dry China Lake, between Bakersfield and Los Angeles. John, his uncle, lived in Los Angeles at that time (1944-1946). My dad not being very interested in Genealogy doesn't remember much about John, but he had a couple of daughters. Dad visited them when he lived in California. I believe one might have been named Jacqueline Nix. I don't know his wife's name. He could have been a musician and/or a cook. He worked as a cook for the contractor building a permanent base at Harvey Field. This Naval Air Base developed and tested the Rocket Bomb for WW2. I know this is not much information and my spelling has never been my strong suit. If you can help me, I'm Darlene NIx at dnix@fgi.net. Thank you.

Harmon Co. is in the far SW corner of OK. Two sides of Harmon Co touch TX. Nadyne

Dear Kelly, I have an EDWARD NIX born 1817 married JANE PERRY 24 Dec 1839 Russell Co., AL. Children: Saphonia, John Edward (died Civil War), Ruth, Theodosie, Mary F., and Dow Perry Nix. My information is from Fern Nix, Rt. 5, Box 191, Greenville, Al 36037, 334-382-6271, who works on this line. Of course, there may be several Edward Nixes. My ancestor is JOEL ROSS NIX, born 1826 in Georgia; died 1910 in Hamilton Co., TX. Married #1 ELIZABETH SMITY; married #2 MARY MUIRHEAD. I think JOEL ROSS NIX is the son of ELIJAH NIX, who I think is the son of EDWSARD NIX. No proof. Many of the children of ELIJAH NIX were living in various homes in Catahoula Parish, LA when 1850 census was taken. Please, share with me a few more facts about your EDWARD NIX. Was MARY SKINNER a second wife? Hope we connect! Nadyne FAULKENBERRY Lynn Amarillo, TX
