Dear Randall, Just got back from vacation and have been catching up on reading Digests. Re #89 in which you sent William Nix's descendants, I think I may connect on your William Nix Jr. b. 1809. My ggg grandfather was William Nix, b. SC 1808-9, in Pontotoc MS at 1850 census. Died about 1854, as his wife remarried that year. Did not know who his father was till I read your email. I also have corresponded with an individual who may connect with his brother Ezekiel. More later - just wanted to say THANKS! Nancy Cason Garland, Texas

Hello all! Noticed the Lafayette Nix names in a couple of recent notes. My great great grandfather was Uriah Lafayette Nix, b. abt. 1833 GA, died 14 Oct 1862. Was in Co K, 26th Arkansas Infantry, Morgan's Regiment. He died in an epidemic of typhoid fever/measles along with at least 1,500 others, including the general. His first marriage was in Itawamba Co., MS 4 Nov 1852 to Delina/Delila Spann. Second to Huldy ? (1860 US Census, Saline Co., Ark.) He had four children, John Calhoun (1854), Elizabeth (1856), Malinda (1860), and George (1862). Have not found where Huldy ever collected on his confederate pension. Anyone connect with this Lafayette? Nancy Cason Garland, TX

Martha, My great grandfather was an Allen Nix, I've been trying to find out more about his family. We believe his father's name was William. We think Allen may have been born in Tx or Ok. He married Estella Nix in Apr 1902 in Oklahoma Territory. Does this family sound familiar to you or anyone else out there? Karen
Doug, I haven't really gotten into genealogy. I just signed up for this mailing list. I don't have much information on my Nix relatives: My Great Grandfather was Joseph Peter Nix (1869-1953). His mother was Penelope Collins. He was married to Rebecca Webb (1871-1911). My Grandfather was John Harrison Nix (1899-1987). He was married to Sallie Armstrong (1896-1981). The thing that I thought was interesting was that my Grandfather's middle name is Harrison and he also was born in AL. I wonder if there's a connection? I'll ask my aunt where my Grandfather's middle name came from. I assume it was a family name, but I've never heard any Harrisons mentioned in the family. Hi all, I am new to the list and am looking for any information about one Martha Nix who may have married a John Valentine Harrison. I believe Martha was born in TN, but am not sure. I am looking for her as a means of locating her husband John. John eventually moved his family to AR, but it is not known where he came from, other than his being born in AL. Any leads would be helpful, as I have not been able to find any information about this line of my family in over twenty-five years of research. Thanks, Doug Turk
