Hi y'all, I have been looking at you messages back and forth for several months now, hoping to see some of my family in some of your messages. But, alas, I have not, so I'm adding my voice to yours. I am searching for any information on Anderson Nix. I don't know much more about him. I do jnow he was the father of Malbra, or Malberry, Nix, who is my g-g-grandfather. Malbra was born about 1873, maybe in Georgia. He marrie a lady whom I know only as "Mary Nix". She disappeared after the 1860 census of AL and before the 1880 census, as did her husband Malbra. But I have found Malbra's, or Malberry, grave in Marion Co., AL. Their family included a son Josiah, a Son William Malberry, & another son Joseph. The latter two sons moved to Texas befor the 1880 census and settled in Cass Co. My g-grandfather was William Malberry, also known as "Bud". One of his daughters was Eva Marie, who was my grandmother, and she married Dewey Worthey, Sr. in Arkansas. If anyone can help me with this family I would be eternally grateful. If I can help any with any of your lines, I will be vigilant as I search for these "ghosts". Curtis Hartsfield cchart@IBm.net
I am still searching for info on Valentine Nix in Sc. Sons Ambrose, William and Larkin. Who did his son William marry? I have info on a William D (Darb) Nix Sr. in SC, b ca 1804. Is this Valentine's son? William married last, Sarah Whitner and one son was Willis Valentine Nix. This makes me think that this William was Valentine's son. Valentine's son Larkin was b. ca 1801. Did he marry a Mary Ann Forrester abt 1850? Did he marry earlir wife? My line is Larkin Nix, married to Elizabeth Prince. My Larkin was born abt 1821. Is he the son of the older Larkin, b 1801? Ambrose , son of Valentine, had sons named Larkin and William. I am really trying to unravel the mystery of the William D Nix and Larkin Nix lines. I know ther is a connection to William D and Larkin, as Larkin's son Jasper was cousin to Willis, William's son. Any answers? Thanks Kathy in SC

Just a word of advice...I have learned many people after the great War (1861-1865)...especially Southerners moved to other States that paid Confederate pensions....most lost everything they had and I think with so many bad memories and sadness...just picked up and moved on....Texas and Tennessee were the first two States to pay Confederate pensions...I am positive that is what brought my ALLEN KENDRICK NIX to Texas and many others ...FORRESTER ---------- > From: Larry W. Well, lets see. There are some close clues here. From a fmily bible I get Joseph P. Nix as the patriarch of this family, but no dates or locations. His wife is Laura Bell Hanes. That's awfully close to your James Robert Nix and Sarah Ann Haines. Your John Peter Nix m. Lydia Annie Alison 8 Jan 1878 My John Peter Nix married Lydia May Allison, but their first born , Thomas Allen, was born 5 May 1895 in Erath Co. TX. That's seventeen years after yours got married. It appears that James Robert Nix, Jr. ( my title ) b. 1859 died 1928 was divorced just as his father was. Does that jive with what you have found? There seems to be about five lines of Nix that have ended up in Texas, and there does not seem to be a connection for them in this country, (USA). It is spooky sometimes to see the same names over and over, but in differant lines. Your Nix line does not tie in with anything I have seen, or collected. But, you never know when some thread will appear that will tie some of them together. Good Hunting Larry
Hi, again, Larry! Your recent post sent me to looking at NIX data again. In my MOST MIXED UP LINE, I found John Peter Nix born 4 Feb 1854 in (Carlton, Hamilton, TX was marked out) Rapides Parish, LA.--married Lydia Annie Alison 8 Jan 1878 in Hamilton Co, TX. Parents of John Peter Nix: James Robert Nix (Aug 1828-8 Jan 1928) and Sarah Ann Haines (c1836): divorced as per 1900 Hamilton Co., TX census. Children of JAMES ROBERT NIX & SARAH ANN HAINES were: 1. Allen D. Nix (1849-bef 1860) born Catahoula Parish, LA 2. John Peter Nix (4 Feb 1854-?) m. Lydia Annie Alison 8 Jan 1878, born Rapides Parish, LA 3. Wm. Edward Nix (15 June 1859- 8 Jan 1928), m. Martha "Mattie" J., born Erath Co., TX 4. James Robert Nix (6 May 1859-8 Jan 1928), born Carlton, Hamilton Co., TX., died Tarrant Co., TX--file # 4051 5. Laura Ann Nix (15 June 1860-?), born Carlton, Hamilton Co., TX In 1900 Hamilton Co,. TX census, James R. Nix, age 71, was living with his son, William E. Nix. He was divorced. I have a note that James Robert Nix and Sarah Ann Haines divorced before 1876. If this makes any sense to you, please help straighten me out. I have further info on second wife (Mattie Childs McDougal) and children of James Robert Nix, but it is more confusing that the above. Is this the line you were looking for. There is a similarity in some names. Nadyne FAULKENBERRY Lynn Larry W. Mabra wrote: > > Looking for info on the following, > Joseph P. Looking for parents of Larkin NIX (b abt 1821, SC), married Elizabeth PRINCE (b abt 1818), daughter of William PRINCE and Mary GRICE. It has been assumed that Larkin is son of Valentine NIX, or William D Nix SR., however this is not documented, and there is more than one Valentine Nix and more than one Larkin Nix. Who is Larkin's father. Anyone with PRINCE lines, please respond. Larkin's son Andrew Thompson Nix married Leticia Amanda PRINCE, a 1st cousin, daughter of Mark PRINCE (bro. of Elizabeth) Kathy in SC
I have searched my files and can't come up with a connection to your Nix line. I have three Nix lines that I have accumalated quite a bit of info on. I am not a genealogist, just a compiler of information. I have received quite a bit of info from others and have found some the hard way. I have info on the following: Robert "Bobby" Nix Robert Nix and Joseph P. Nix There is no tie from Joseph P. Nix to the other two. A sister to Bobby Nix, married a son of Robert Nix. There does not appear to be a "blood kinship" between these two. As I am a member of the Board of Trustees, Lancaster Cem. Assoc. I like the way you close your letters, "In Loving Memory of Those Who Came Before". Larry Mabra Lancaster, TX.
Hi, Sorry it has taken me so long to reply to the requests for my Nix tie. I have been away from school for the holiday weekend. Well, here's my story. I have reached a dead end in our family line. Various family members have been searching for over twenty years to come across our line with no luck. I have been able to make some progress, but not much. The farthest back we can go is my great-great-grandfather, John Valentine Harrison d.1913. John's wife was named Martha, d.1898, but her maiden name has remained a mystery. I have been told by several fellow researchers to try Martha Nix and that is why I subscribed to this list. I have come across several census listings for their children citing that Martha was born in TN and John was born in AL. Unfortunately, this is all that I know. I have been mainly keeping an eye on posts and searching for any listings for a Martha Nix who married a John Harrison. I do also know that their first child was born around 1860 and thei last came in 1878 around Mulberry, AR. Prior to this time I do not know their whereabouts. I have tried everything I can think of except for searching for this Martha. Any suggestions are welcome. The AR soundex that I have access to is too blurry to read, so the census is pretty much out of the question. Sorry there's no more to give. Doug

Happy July 4th ~ Our thanks to Allen Connel....this is great! His Nix-L post, Vol 98 #97, ALLEN KENDRICK NIX...confederate pension...family info ---> provided lots of links for some of us! I've been reading to become familiar with the group and didn't think we were seeing any ties...and had not our posted our NIX Family until earlier in the week. Then, I nearly fainted when Red River...Bowie... Fannin...Hunt Counties in TX started showing up...then more about AR...MS...TN! Since joining the group and reading, just had not seen familiar names, or maybe dates didn't fit just right. Now looks like the geographics must be our key! For those of you that may not be in Texas: TX Counties - Bowie, Red River, Fannin, Hunt, and Grayson all sit in the NE corner of TX, N-NE of Dallas; most are adjoining counties. Then McLennon falls S of Dallas @ Waco. And those are only the counties I took the time to see from several postings. Maybe someone else can look more closely at the other states? :) Guess we'll all be busy getting the charts out to see where things might fit. Undoubtedly, Allen will be going back to the library to find some more "good stuff"! PS. We only have two or three 20-30 year-old NIXs in Texas, but we'd be pleased to know of any NIX Reunions held in Texas. In Loving Memory of Those Who Came Before, Lizann Gunter-Nix Matheney (1954 TX)
Dear Sonny, Thanks for the death data on William Lord, including source of the info. I really appreciate your help. Nadyne Lynn
