Looking for any info on James P. Nix, b. 1848, d. 3/1912, Flatcreek Cemetery, Miller Co., GA. as to parents, spouse, birthplace, etc. I have a note that his father is a Frank Nix, but no evidence.
Hi Nix Family, I finally got a good lead on my Eldgridge Nix, it really helped when I found out his real name was Zacharia Eldridge Nix! His parents were George Nix bn 1795, and Naomi Chandler bn 1803 in Dallas co, AR. George's father was James Nix bn abt 1759. The children of George and Naomi are: 1. Isham Jasper bn 1822 . 2. Zacharia Eldridge bn 1824. 3. John bn 7/6/1827. 4. Newton C. bn 9/19/1828. 5. Hariett C. bn 1829. 6. Gabriel Marion bn 11/25/1830. 7. George L. bn abt 1835. 8. Martha bn 1836 or 1838. 9. Mary Juliett bn abt 1840. 10. Lawrence (Laurence) bn 6/29/1843. Bev

I received a letter from her last week and she said she is making great progress on the Nix families and continues to tie more lines together. They are busy inputting the data into the computer. I am assuming she still is planning to publish a book. Wanda
I have a census listing of a Nix family, however I don't know if they are related to mine or not. Maybe this will help someone, i'd like to know what line they are from. 1900 census--Whitewater Twsp.--Oconee Co., SC Lawrence C Nix Nov 1867 32 Martha E Sept 1871 28 Ollie T (dau) Oct 1894 5 Willard V Nov 1896 3 Ada M Apr 1899 1 Anyone from this line? In a message dated 98-07-27 16:09:00 EDT, you write: << Valentine Nix William (ca 1804) Larkin (ca 1801) | | Willis V. m. Mary Ann Evatt Larkin (ca 1821) m. Elizabeth Prince | | Vinettie Jasper (ca 1852) m. Beedie Dacus | | Marvin Moore Maggie >> were any of these people around Alabama. the names look similar to some in my family.
Still wondering about my line. I have Larkin Nix, b abt 1821. I don't think he is the one who was son of Valentine, however it is possible he is a grandson, maybe the son of Valentine's son Larkin who was born 1801.This is why I believe this. Marvin Moore of easley was son of Vinettie Nix Moore. He told me taht my gr- grandaddy Nix (Larkin) was 2nd cousin to his mother. His mother was daughter of Willis Valentine Nix>son of William D Nix Sr. Valentine Nix William (ca 1804) Larkin (ca 1801) | | Willis V. m. Mary Ann Evatt Larkin (ca 1821) m. Elizabeth Prince | | Vinettie Jasper (ca 1852) m. Beedie Dacus | | Marvin Moore Maggie All info I see on Valentine's son Larkin says he married Mary Ann Forster in 1850. If so, she was probably a 2nd or 3rd wife if he was born in 1801. Does ANYBODY have info on Larkin's previous marriage(s). I haven't found anyone with info on William, son of Valentine, but I believe that he is the William D (Darb/Darby) Nix Sr. i have listed here. can anybody help me with this? Thanks Kathy in SC

The Modesto Bee Modesto CA Thursday, July 9, 1998 Pathfinders Church founder Rev. Ruby Nix dies TURLOCK-The Rev. Ruby Pearl Nix, founder and longtime pastor of Pentecostal Pathfinders Church, died Wednesday. She was 76. Rev. Nix led the congregation, founded in 1970, until a couple of years ago. Her husband, Joe Nix, helped her with the church until his death in 1979, but she was Pathfinders only ordained minister, said her son Richard J. Nix. "She was very loving, she really cared about people," he said. "People who were beaten down found a refuge in her." Rev. Nix died at Turlock Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Rev. Nix, mother of four, was a full-time homemaker prior to starting the church. She founded Pathfinders because she felt called by God, said her son. Today, the congregation numbers about 60, but once counted more than 100 members. Rev. Nix wrote songs for her family's country gospel group, the Nix Family, during the early 1970s. The Nix Family recorded two albums and performed throughout the San Joaquin Valley and in the Bay Area. She played the guitar and wrote some 70 religious songs during her lifetime. She was born in Snyder, Texas, on Dec. 2, 1921, and moved to Alabama when whe was about 14, her son said. She and her family moved back to Texas briefly and then moved to Turlock in the mid-1940s. Strongly committed to her faith throughout her life, Rev. Nix never took a salary from her church and put all the offering money into building maintenance, her son said. Her husband, a street maintenance and parks employee for the city of Turlock, was the family's breadwinner. Rev. Nix lived on Social Security benefits following his death. Rev. Nix was a gregarious person who always made newcomers feel at home, her son said. "If you were around her very long, you were laughing." The Rev Gilbert Kutscher, who will be the new pastor at Pathfinders, said he met Rev. Nix shortly after he was saved in 1982. She spent hours talking with him about Scriptures and encouraged him in the ministry. Based in part on her support, Kutscher became associate pastor in 1987. Besides her son, Rev. Nix is survived by daughters Alice Faye Raymond, Linda M. Anderson and Myra K. Murray, all of Turlock, and 13 grandchildren. A funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at Whitehurst Norton Funeral Chapel, 186 W. Main St. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel.

Hi Fellow Nix Decendants, I am looking for information on a Nix line whose first location I can establish was in Tallapoosa, Bibb, Alabama. My father had told me that his great grandfather had immigrated from Ireland but I have no details on that other than he had an Irish accent. My great great grandfathers' birth date was 1790. He married Martha "Patsy" Hamilton who was born in 1810. They had nine children, one of whom was my great grandfather Pleasant Nix. He married Sara Nix and apparently they moved to Calhoun Co, Miss. where they had eight children, one of whom was Horace Newton Nix who married Anna Mae Rounsaville, reportedly of Cherokee Indian descent her father,Wesley Rounsville being full blooded Cherokee(per reported family hx.) They had nine children, one of whom was my father Bernice Francis Nix who was born in Calhoun Co. in 1915 and died last year in 1997.My grandfather reportedly worked in a medical capacity in Ponotoc Ms. He died in Snow Lake, Helena, Arkansas in 1953 and is buried in Dividing Ridge Cemetary near Coffeeville,Ms. Anna died on July 20,1940, and was buried in Calhoun Co. I would appreaciate any information anyone could provide regarding this set of Nix's June McIntyre mcintyrj@netdoor.com
