    1. [NIX-L] Mary Nix and Micajah Walker, John Nix
    2. PAULA COFFEY
    3. Thank you for the welcomes to the list! I am looking for info on Marys Nicks born about 1796 in SC. The fist info I find is when she married Micajah Walker in Hall County GA. Dec 27, 1822. I found Micajah Walker in 1840 in Lumpkin County GA census with a 75 year old male in the home by the name of John Nix. John Nix is listed as a Pensioner for the Revolutionary or Military Services. I believe Micajah and Mary had at least two children, Peter and Rebecca. Rebecca Walker married Newton Cearley . The families later settled in Union County GA. They are all buried in the MT Zion Cemetery. I'm not sure about the birth year for Mary Nix Walker...as I followed the census Micajah would age ten years as expected but Mary would only age 7 or 8 years!!! Of course my Mom claims that sounds about right! If anyone has any info I would appreciate it. I have not been able to find much info. Thanks, Paula I am also working on H. J. Sparks, Donnithan Cearley, Elizabeth Thomas, and James Calvin Whitmore all of whom lived in the Union County Ga area at one time.

    1. [NIX-L] Rootsweb Problems Resolved
    2. Wanda Rabb
    3. Passing along the following from Brian at Rootsweb regarding the recent problems that occurred as a result of spammers attacking the system. These folks work hard to keep our genealogy lists going and they deserve our support. ******************************************************************************** ************************************* Since Tuesday when we resumed normal operations after recovering from the cracker attack, we have received numerous reports of anomalous list server operation. The symptoms included: o Posts and digests disappearing. o Posts appearing in the archives and in the digests, but not being sent to mail mode subscribers. o Several other, more involved, abnormalities. There was indeed a problem that was causing anomalous operation of the main "lists.rootsweb.com" server for one or two 2-hour windows each day and a similar problem that was affecting the "lists2" server zero or one 2-hour window each day. (We accidentally broke "lists2" as we were making repairs to the "lists" server.) Anyway, the problem is now identified and fixed. To the best of our knowledge, there are no remaining problems. These two listservers had operated without problems for more than 200 days each before the cracker attack, and we'll try to provide even better reliability than that out into the future. -B

Daniel NIX,Elizabeth Caroline GREEN daniel died in 1905,wife died 1908 do you know where they are burried.? Richard GREEN ,born:1740,md:Eleanor SULLIVAN, Amos GREEN died,1857-md:Elizabeth SEARCY-died;1854 burried Cherokee Co,GA.need the parents of the above four.Thank you DITAW >> Hi, I can help you with Richard Green and his family. Richard Green, born 1740, died about 1810, was the son of Jeremiah Green, born about 1705 in Hunterdon, New Jersy, who married Hannah Hunt, born about 1719. This Jeremiah Green was the first of his family to come to what was called Jersey Settlement on the Yadkin River near present day Sallsbury, NC. Jeremiah Green was the son of Judge William Green, born about 1671 in England, who married Joanna Reeder in 1692 in New York. This couple built the first brick home in the area in about 1717, and the home still stands on the campus of Trenton College. There is no proof, but it is believed that Richard Green married Eleanor Sullivan, born between 1740 and 1750, died before 1817, was the daughter of Edward E. Sullivan who died February 27, 1794. The story is that Edward Sullivan brought his coffin with him when the family migrated to North Carolina made from a Poplar Tree, and was the first to be buried in the new home of these pioners. This couple joined the Jersey Baptist Church January 2, 1785. You also asked about their son, Amos Green born 1778, died January 6, 1857 in Georgia, who married Elizabeth Searcy who died October 13, 1854 in Georgia. I do not show a brother named Andrew Jackson Green. This family was an important family in old Rowan County, NC in the early days, and there are many researchers on the Green "list" who research this family, and I will post this reply to the Green list in case you wish additional info on this family. Good Luck in your search! Tom Green TBGreen3@aol.com
