    1. [NIX-L] Re: NIX-D Digest V98 #149
    2. I am looking for info on my grandfather, Ralph Nix of Phenix City, Alabama. I think his middle name was Clemens, but don't hold me to it. I've requested birth and death certificates on him. The county courthouse doesn't have anything. The problem here is that he was an orphan, I've been told he originally came from Ohio, but that's sketchy at best. Anything anyone can offer would be a great help. Thank You. Ralph Nix

    1. [NIX-L] Nix lines--Valentine, William, Larkin
    2. I had written Wanda Gregory and didn't think I was going to get a reply. It came in while I was out of town and my kids put it away for me---over a month ago. (Aren't kids great <LOL>) Anyway I had asked Wanda about Valentine Nix line and what she knew about his sons Larkin and William. My line is a Larkin, b abt 1821, married Elizabeth Prince. Also researching William D. Nix, from Pickens Co, SC, who married last Sarah Whitner. William's will mentions a son Larkin, don't know if this is my Larkin or not. Wanda seem to think it was. Wanda said that Larkin, son of Valentine Nix had married Celia Cooper first, then in 1850 married Mary Ann Foster. He had 10 children by Celia, does anyone descend from this line?Did he have a son Larkin??? If anyone can connect to these line, please email me, Thanks Kathy in SC

    2. Gil & Sonia Murray
    3. Hello! Is there a Goodspeed's History of (counties including) Polk Co. AR? We have found valuable info in the biography section of other Goodspeed's histories. There was a 1913 Confederate Census taken in AR, which included valuable info on our Turners given in a bio of a collateral line descendant. If any of your Nixes were in the Civil War and survived to 1913, you might find something in this source. Good luck, Sonia Murray (Gil has Nix ancestry, no link that I can see.)

    1. [NIX-L] NIX family - Polk or Sevier counties, Arkansas
    2. Looking for any information on the Thomas NIX family of Mena, Polk county, AR. Thomas and Martha Pool NIX settled in Mena after 1870. They were listed with their children in the 1880 census. Some offspring were listed separately with families by the 1900 census...in Center, Cove and Potter townships. By 1910, the family is beginning to scatter...some to DeQueen, Sevier county, AR. Some were apparently employed by the railroad. Children are: Nancy (Nina), Sophronia, Thomas, James, John, Joseph, and Robert. Families married into the NIX family include: BEAVERS, SHACKLEFORD, YORK, MARTIN, BROOKS, IMOE, and RICHARDS. Any information would be appreciated. I have also shared this information with Wanda Gregory....and she doesn't have anything on this line. Thank you, Margaret Nixon

    3. Wanda, Sorry, I am not researching the Nix line. I subscribed for a friend, Ken Nix, who has a new computer and is learning how to use it. He wanted to know how to get on the Nix list and I showed him how on my computer. He will be subscribing shortly and I will help him submit his surnames and his line, when he gets on line with you all. In the mean time I am forwarding all messages on the Nix list to him, when he gets subscribed, I will unsubscribe. Ron, in the woods
