Edmund COFFIN 1796 of Freeport, Maine. Matthew and Sally had a dau. that went to live in Vassalboro, Me. with her grandparents. Sarah m. Butler C. WOOD of Winslow, Me. 1816. Tracing Indian is very difficult. This wasn't on census. This was hidden in my family for many years, Hattie, my greatgrandmother died in 1961 Pasadena, Ca. I saw GASLIN surname in your archives, maye a connection??? Hattie was midwife and herbalist in Me. I have letter from my uncle 87 years stating Hattie was my greatgrandmother. Mother of my grandmother. and Indian. No tribe was mentioned. Possibly Sally STAR was from Midwest. Any help will be appreciated Regards,Joan

    3. Joan If he had any kind of estate there should be a probate. What I could make out of the info sent: Sally Star (5th great grandmother? Any dates of birth or death? Where born & died?) m1. Matthew GASLIN (married Boston 1794) m2. Edmund COFFIN (married 1796) of Freeport, Maine Sarah Coffin born between 1796 and 1816 (4th great grandmother? Coffin or Gaslin? Any dates of birth or death?) m1. Butler C. Wood (married 1816) of Winslow, ME (missing great great great grandmother) (missing great great grandmother) Hattie (great grandmother) grandmother mother Joan Between your great grandmother Hattie and Sarah are two missing generations that could have contributed Indian blood, three generations to Sally. Where she was born would tell the most. Is there a will anywhere or a probate? Do you have parentage, sblings, children of Matthew or Edmund? Which of these two do is the father of Sarah? Butler (Fr: Boutillier) is also a somewhat common name to have intermarried. Do you have any additional info and I hope this helps!
